I was fooling around in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City once and drove right into the ocean. After Tommy got out of the hospital, I went back to the ocean and jumped in. I got out of the hospital, went back to the ocean, and jumped in. I kept doing this repeatedly, and for some reason it kept me entertained for about half an hour. LOL

I used to kill the main guy in Prince of Persia (the old one) all the time and give a running commentary.
"He's running, he's jumping, he's ... IMPALED ON SPIKES OH BABY THAT'S GOTTA HURT!"

Another example that slipped my mind:
One time in Jak & Daxter I roamed around the world, jumping off cliffs and swimming as far as I could until the giant fish ate me.

See, in GnG you KNOW exactly how and when he's gonna die...so...is there any difference? LOL

Dirk the Daring in the NES version of Dragon's Lair (you don't have to purposely kill him -- he dies easily and often). But I still think the game is better than its horrible reputation would suggest.

For some sick reason in THPS3 I like to watch my character get hit by the ice cream truck in the Suburbia level LOL

I usually stay quiet on River City Ransom so my enemies can kill me. Or I kill my character jumping into a hole or hitting a wall LOL

How about The Immortal? So many fun ways for your character to die there. One of my personal favorites is right in the very beginning of the game, where, if you stand over a tile that has a worm under it, you are warned, "It might be a good idea to move." If you don't, you get eaten by the worm! Comedy gold, in my opinion. LOL

the only version of any Tony Hawk game i own/played was THPS 2 for gba, and i loved watching him land head down on teh ramps... no death but still great fun
Super Mario 64.... climb the castle or any hill/floating island... then go flying off... without that flying hat of course.

Haha, true. I'm not an especially violent person but that was STILL fun. I believe it's Tony Hawk 2 on the XBox with the "God's Crib" type level - falling into the void brings hillarious results :)
Ah, who was I kidding when I said I didn't like the game? http://www.digitpress.com/forum/images/smiles/Llol.gif
Mafia (PC) Playing chicken with the Trollies. The trollies always win.
Super Mario 64 Nothing was better then doing a butt stop into thin air. The scream was pricless..

In Doom 2, I used to have fun by turning on no clipping mode, cranking up Turbo to maximum, and shooting myself with my own rocket by running in front of it.
I vaguely recall lots of caffeine and sugar-fueled nights when my friends and I would derive major laughs from committing mass suicide in various NES platformers. Something about the ridiculousness of the elite Contra commandos blithelty jumping to their deaths struck us funny. It's just so opposite of what you're supposed to do that it's hilarious. Or maybe it was just our warped sense of humor. Or the caffeine.

Out of this World.
Just finding the new ways to die makes the insane difficulty worth it, much like Mortal Kombat.

When I was a kid, I remember the first time I ever fell down an elevator shaft in "Impossible Mission" for the C64. The long, melodramatic "AAAAUUUGGGgghhh...." had me laughing so hard I just kept doing it for the next hour.
Plus, that little yell the tiles in Klax made always cracked me up too. Many a tile were flung mercilessly into the great Klax death-pit.

Hm. Someone hasn't played the Space Quest series. Half the fun is trying to kill of Roger. One of my favorites is in Space Quest 5, you're on your tiny garbage scow and the flagship of the StarCon is bearing down on you. This is what happens if you ignore all warnings from your crew and just sit there

(note, the scorchmark starts as roger, and he just gets toasted LOL )

I always liked the "You killed Meryl, you stupid bastard" game over in Metal Gear Solid. Oh, and if you get killed during the torture scene. The irate "Ocelot, you did it again!" and the mollified little "sorry, boss" always crack me up. And in MGS2, during the Marine powerpoint show, it's fun to get caught. Snake looks so sheepish.
Half of Shadowgate's fun is the sheer variety of ways to die. You can get roasted by a dragon for trying to take its stuff, you can fall from ledges, you can trip in the dark and break your neck..

Nice, someone finally mentioned space quest. My favorite death was in the same game when the alien tackles you in that abandoned greenhouse and you have to dodge his acidic spit....I clicked the wrong way and Roger PAYED for it.
In another game, it wasn't the main character but in Cliver Barker's "Undying" I could never play past the beginning part of the game with the butler because I would slaughter him every time. I even used cheats to discover new ways of murdering the poor butler. "Right this way sir....." SPEAR THROUGH THE HEAD

Ah, that reminds me:
Turning on noclip in Duke Nukem 3D and running into a boss monster or a doorway...heh
Typing "IDDQD" in Heretic (IDKFA 'works,' too, but it's not nearly as dramatic). Too damn funny.

Only time I really did that was killing party member sin rpgs to get more exp for lower-leveled characters.
In the Tomb Raider games, there are some moves that are little known that most people don't utilize. Being one of the people who read the instruction manuals, I tried and learned all the available moves in Tomb Raider (original) including the dive.
Now there are several very hard, precise moments in Tomb Raider (and other entries in the series). Often times I'd get so frustrated that I'd kill Lara Croft for some relief. Things like making her leap into lava, run right into large rolling stones, skewer herself on spikes. However, my favorite was making her dive to her death into hot lava.
Normally in the games, when she falls a long, fatal distance, she screams and screams until she hits. But if you dive, she doesn't make a peek until the splintering of her bones. So I'd imagine her turning around and solemnly thinking to herself, "Fine, then, if the whole world JUST WANTS ME DEAD I'll save it the effort!" and then have her dive, dive for what seemed miles, silently, into the firey death below.
Such satisfaction.

Sure, I love doing things in games you're not supposed to do. This applies especially to killing wingmen, escorts, "friends", etc. If I have the ability in a game to shoot or punch, you can bet I'm going to have no prejudice about who I'm going to do it to. And I love watching a "friend" I wasn't supposed to kill get blown up or crash to the ground...sometimes I will restart the game several times to re-enjoy this moment.
I'm really frustrated by games where I can't kill myself or my allies. Classic gaming fans, imagine how different Wizard of Wor would have been if your shots passed through player two.

Ah, Kid Ice, you just reminded me of a whole genre of games that it got fun to do that in.
The Wing Commander Series.
I always liked turning on my wingmen in frustration... sometimes even going completely rogue and blowing up whatever carrier the game had me on. Nothing like watching the Tiger's Claw go up by your own hand after failing an insane mission with basically 0% chance of success and would mean GAME OVER anyway.
"With your carrier destroyed. you drift endlessly through the void..."
Sadly, they didn't let you do it in Starlancer... the co-pilot would just take over after a few shots and then you'd be executed just as you walk onto the flight deck.

This also reminds me of when I played half-life for the PC. I'd be talking to a guard, scientist, or some other good guy and *WHAM* crowbar!! It's funny because they would be like, "HEY! What are you doing!!" :)
Good times
