Quick! Everybody take their collections to Antique Roadshows and lets see how much we can inflate retrogaming prices for the holidays!
This looks like a job for an Ebay Gremlin.

The box was appraised at $100 . O_O
I guess the brown tape and the fact that it's falling apart just add to the value.
And a low, low, low reserve of $350 . LOL

I saw an episode of collector inspector where he noticed the guys boxed atari games, he basicly said they were worth nothing, maybe $1. It was very sad.

Who brings video games to an antique appraiser anyway? I mean a 30 year old video game isn't exactly in the same league as a 200 year old dresser.

sent him an email:

"This unit was appraised by Antique Roadshow in 2003 for $500US"
Those people at the roadshow really know what they are doin huh? Just here to help you out, that game isnt worth over $20. Antique roadshow is meant for antiques, I think they were just playing a joke on you, poking fun at you because most people bring antiques; 100 year old dressers, old lamps, and stuff like that, not 30 year old coleco games. Sorry that its not worth as much as they said it was!

didin't the guys at the antique roadshow get in trouble for aprasing items of their own or something for super high value then to resell them afterwards?

If nothing else, they need good television every week. Good television means finding something really valuable, every week. I've long thought that they hype up prices beyond reality in order to make the show a little more sensational. Nobody wants to hear about something being worth $20.

got a responce:
Truthfully I could care a less, I am a trading Drop off location and I list the item as described by the customer and set the prices the customer wants. I really have no opinion on the matter. I list it and sell it...if they wanted to charge three times that amount it oesnt make any difference to me. Sure I make a percentage of what they sell for, but with a reserve auction they pre-pay so I make my money irregardless. If it doesn’t sell then they need to re-evaluate not us.

O_O
I'm not sure I understand what he means by a 'drop off location', but why does'nt the person just sell the cart THEMSELVES?
Or do a little LOOKING on EBay first and realize he'll have more fun and save his money by just simpling using the cart as a doorstop? LOL

Agreed!
Altought, they know shit about old rusty sword from the spanish war, old table and Chinese vase.
However, the only apprasier I like on the show, is the young guy from the New Jersey (blond/brown hair, early 30's), you can see the fire in his eyes and you can really see he REALLY like what he do.

Not true. Usually it's kind of funny to see the woman walk in with her antique dishes, dollar signs in her eyes only be told that they're made of plastic and worth $5.
Not everything's worth a lot. And I think they attract enough real antiques they don't need to lie about it.

No ebay feedback. Computer illiterate. Etc.
I know a guy that used to sell on ebay for a commision, he made good money on marching band equipment then switched to adult novelties.

Interesting, more evidence of how much money the adult industry brings in. LOL
Actually, I'm selling some hentai games on Ebay right now myself..... :embarrassed:

They don't allow selling Hentai anymore. It used to be my big cash cow, selling CDs made by Japaneese artists.

Well, the auctions have'nt gotten yanked yet. :/ They are in the 'Muture Auidences' section, but I did just post them last night -- we'll see what happens.

Actually these telstar combats are a pain to find, especially with box, but it isn't worth near 500. I'd say $80 or so at the most.

I gave up on the MA section myself. Its so hard to get to its not worth it. Impossible to get to without talking to someone who already knows how to.

And unforentuly, the only place where you can sell that stuff now. :/ I checked with EBay to make sure. Yes, it's legal to sell there -- sold some adult tapes there as well -- but you don't get as much attention for your items. Makes it very important to have a fair BIN and hope someone takes it.

Oh the other hand it sounds like it's worth it to sign up with the adult section just for decently priced hentai titles. I wonder what Knights of Xentar goes for... :D

I have a shrinkwrapped copy of True Love. Its one of the top games in my collection. The ONLY time I've seen a legit True Love on ebay it went for around 300 dollars USED.

As I mentioned in my post, I DO have a CD of that game -- traded with a friend for it back in high school. And sorry, ain't no way that puppy is leaving my sight! LOL
(Actually, that game, being DOS based, does'nt run very well on modern computers -- had a bitch getting it to work with XP last year. O_O )

There's a company that does that here in Mystic. They do everything for the cusromer, list the item, communicate with the bidders, package and ship it. The actual owner doesn't do a damn thing.
This is primarily for people who either doesn't have the time, the knowledge or perhaps the feedback to list and sell a priced item.

Sounds like a great service, actually. My grandmother was just asking me about some antique dishes that she'd like to sell.
The problem WITH this auction is what he is trying to sell. LOL
