Anyone else enjoy this Genesis rpg? I started playing the rom after reading some of what was said about it in the sega rpg thread.

Yup, great game. Just finished it myself. Was gonna toss it up on 'Bay tonight, in fact.

Beyond Oasis is an excellent game for the Genesis. A good action RPG is always better than a turn based one IMO. I'd also recommend Crusader of Centy, if you haven't tried that one out already.
P.S. - They made a few more games in the 'Oasis' series for some other platforms as well. I'm positive they made Legend of Oasis for the Saturn, and I'm pretty sure there is a Game Gear one too.

They did, it was Defenders of Oasis. The Genny version is excellent my only compliant was how short it was, I remember beating it in something like 8 hours or less.

The saturn one was only about 8 hours or so as well. I did enjoy that kind of bonus dungeon in Beyond Oasis. Too bad it wasn't in the sequel or prequel depending on how you look at it.

It's even shorter the second time through. I played it again after I beat it and it took me about 3 hours. It's still a great game though. The Saturn prequel was cool but just didn't click with me like the first did. It was missing something, IMO.
In any case, I still would like to see another game in the series, on GBA perhaps?

Probably just me but I enjoy taking my time many times with rpgs, action or straight ones but yeah, thanks to that thread and Daria's comments I found a new game to enjoy for awhile.
I think BO (eww) is really underappreciated. Great game.
I agree that the Saturn one was lacking, though. It was just ... ugh. Not fun and confusing.

Hmmm, I may be thinking af a super NES game, but I didn't see any on the list with Oasis in the title. Coulda sworn there was one. I seem to remember an SNES game...an rpg... with Oasis in the title that I proudly beat in one night. Damn, shows why I don't remember it...

Defenitely a great game. I think soon I must sit down and play through all of it. The graphics are quite amazing and they just remind me of the SNES' graphics style so much.

Ack no.
"Legend of Oasis" is the Saturn sequal, "Beyond Oasis" for the GameGear just shares a similar title. The game's aren't related.
Still a great game though.
Edit: Quoted the wrong guy. :P

I bought both the Genesis and Saturn versions new when I was a kid.
I really enjoyed Beyond Oasis, but I got stuck in Legend of Oasis. I haven't played either in about 8 years. Sold Legend of Oasis two years ago still complete. Still have the Genesis complete (from when I was 10) and plan to keep it. The SNES game that is kind of similar is Illusion of Gaia maybe???

I started with the ROM a while back. It's good, yes. Need to buy the real thing, and soon.
It hardly feels like a Genesis game, really. Pretty bright colors, great understated music, and a very smooth interface. It doesn't set anybody's world on fire, and doesn't seem to have quite the depth of a Zelda game, but it's close enough.

Actually, they're not in the same series. The game gear one in japanese is "Shadam Cursader" (I'm not sure if Shadam is how the japanese put
"Saddam" in katakana, but there ARE refrences to america's struggle there (General Kohle is "Kadafi" in the japanese version)
Anyway, the Megadrive one is "Story of Thor" and the saturn version I don't know the full name of, but it has the word Thor in it.

Anyone here actually ever do good in Effert Racing?
I thought I completed the racing, back in the day. Not so sure about the deep dungeon, though.
