Has anyone else noticed this?

I picked up Star Wars: KOTOR for the Xbox at Circuit City last week ($9.99 baby!) and I was shocked to find that it came with Greatest Hits packaging, but a green DVD case. The game is labeled Greatest Hits and all that, but it has a green DVD case.

I have recently seen a handful of other games with the Greatest Hits packaging, in the green DVD cases.

I don't really care about it (I bought KOTOR as a game to play, not as a collection piece) but I don't understand why this it. I like the way the green cases look, I don't think the Greatest Hits packaging is too bad, but combine the two and it is really ugly. Shortage at the factory?

I'm not sure what's going on with it, but every PH copy of KOTOR I've seen has been in a green case. I'm guessing it's a shortage on Lucasarts part or something. Either way, it's good you bought it to play as opposed to it being a 'collection piece' because as many of those as I've seen I doubt they're rare.

it is probably cheaper to just use all green cases instead of getting 2 different cases

Well, when you're manufacturing millions of the same type of case, I can't imagine it being much cheaper. Especially since the rest of the labeling was made to go with it that way.

I have definitely seen KOTOR as a silver case. I just think it's odd...

It was a first run error (more than likely) as all the ones that ive seen were in that as well. However they are now starting to show up in the silver cases so it will become one of those only provable that it was green cased with Platinum Hits inserts if left sealed.

Ive passed it up, only beacuse ive bought the game twice now for the regular version and its variant. I dont need the other 2 copies... YET.

It was a first run thing. We are now getting the silver DVD case GH versions as we should be.
