Those of you who ship from Canada to the US, expect even more problems. Within the last few weeks, Canada Post has instituted a new policy for ALL packages being shipped to the US. A phone number and address of BOTH the shipper and the recipient is required to ship packages out of Canada now. As you might expect, this will be a pain in the ass, so if anyone is expecting packages from Canada...expect to be asked for your phone number! Fair warning!

I love Canada.

I really, really do.

I'm even planning to go back and visit. :D

But forget all that shipping nonsense. :/ I've had enough trouble getting things into Canada at this point, and that's without all the new stuff. You wouldn't think it would be so difficult, and maybe it's just me, but I've had little to no luck with it thus far.

I know what you mean. Thats why I have been hesitant to deal with canadian sellers/traders unless I find a too good deal. Between high shipping and now this agh.. (frustrated). its sad because alot of canucks have good stuff at good prices too.

I'm curious as to how they are going to verify that you give them the correct phone number? Especially with unlisted numbers! Are they going to actually call each and every recipient to verify their phone number? It seems like a stupid policy that has no purpose.

Thats what I was thinking.

Whenever anyone (like a web-site) demands a phone # I put in 1-234-567-8910 LOL

Canada Post can stick it!

No way I will put the phone number on the shipping slip.

I've been meaning to get off of shipping with CP, but UPS is lousy and FedEx isn't close so it's a pain to ship. :/

I HATE shipping to Canada. Things take forever to arrive. They actually lost me a $200 package a few months back. :(

Anyways, whenever a shipper asks for a phone number, I usually put a period in. If you print out your own labels on a UPS/FedEx computer, you can get away with that. As long as there's something in the phone number field, it usually works. Or put in a phone sex number. Might as well have some fun with it.

What's the big deal?

If they've got your name and address they can get your phone number anyway...

With Fedex you already have to have the phone number of both parties. (U.S.) I just put mine in both places and dare them to say something about it.

It is nothing new really.. the phone number has always been required on the expedited parcel form.. just never enforced. I would guarantee that not all outlets are enforcing this now either.

This has NO effect on small packets either (<1kg).
