I think that was just a teaser bit of art Nintendo released. Possibly the original box art that was changed. I don't think any of the games were actually released like this.

This box art is so much cooler. We always get bad box art for the most part.

Look at the image a little closer. This is a demo art box. You can tell because the ESRB rating is still at RP and hasnt been rated on that cover. So that leads me to think that its nothing more than a pre-product cover release

Which reminds me, next time I go to GameStop, I'll have to ask if they happen to have the old box art on hand.
