I remember back when there were four SFII games at the local arcade, some big dude got really pissed at losing and started banging the control panel.

The arcade employee told him to cut it out, so he pounded the employee instead!

The cops showed up and everything.

I don't recall seeing that guy working there anymore after that! Any other interesting similar stories?

That's a coincidence that a thread with that subject pops up. Sometime last week, when playing Guilty Gear X2 #Reload in my room with some buddies, my friends got into a fist fight because he got pissed off over getting killed by Sol Badguy's dust loop. Luckily nothing got broken....except my friend's glasses.

I once got into a fight with my friend because he hadn't been able to find a copy of FF Tactics (I had owned the game from early on) and when he came over, he would immediately sit down and start playing it, and I couldn't get him to turn it off.

One day, I needed him to leave, and he wouldn't turn the game off, so I ended up punching him in the kidney. We got into a scuffle, I won, he left.

EDIT: We're still friends by the way.

A couple of my friends got in a fight over a game of Blades Of Steel once. It was pretty close the entire game and after the 3rd period, the score was tied. One of them scored in OT though to win the game and right afterwards (to stick it to the looser), he let out a loud "YES!!!!".

My friend that just lost flipped out and started choking him after that (yeah, the guy obviously has issues), so my other friend had to punch him in the face a couple times to get him off. It was pretty quiet and awkward after that.

It wasn't a video game, but hey its still a game. I was like 10 and I was playing lacross with my friend in my driveway and the ball went in the steet and neither us wanted to get it so he went home.

One time when I was a kid I went to the bathroom and came back and a friend of mine had killed my entire Bard's Tale party. Then, I tried to kill him.

I always used to fight with my little brother all the time when we'd be playing video games. No fist fights or anything, but he'd really get me angry by erasing my files on some games that I'd get really far on.

Once, I tried to kill a friend of mine for messing up my Animal Crossing town--his Gamecube's clock was oddly set to a few years into the future (you can fill in the rest I assume).

Once, when my cousin felt like playing through Final Fantasy VII again, he accidently overwrote my file at the end of the game when I was working on getting strong enough to beat Emerald Weapon.

I nearly beat him to death with a pillow.

I remember back when I was in 7th grade, my former friend had lent me his Pokemon Red game so that I could try to get some of the Pokemon I needed. Unfortunately for him, I had started a new game on his cartridge, and had forgotten the fact that his old data would be erased. Luckily for me, he did not find out until when he played it over the weekend, and I was in the safety of my own house....

I had a cousin I lived near who'd always insist on playing 2 player mode on the games I rented with my money.. annoying because I wanted to enjoy them alone and without his antics. Never escalated beyond bickering and eventual concession.

My little sister had a habit of smashing my controllers down after she'd die.. often. Never did much about it.

In middle school and early high school I had this buddy who would always borrow my games and -always- delete my game saves 'accidentally'. I came to expect it and never raised a fuss. Still good friends up until I moved away, when he didn't show up to help me move.

Knew another guy who collected knives, trained in several martial arts and had a severe Napoleonic complex, whipped each other's ass in Mortal Kombat III and Twisted Metal all the time without incident. Lots of trash talk though.

I'm glad to say I never knew anyone get mad enough to start choking someone over a game.

me and my sister were playing contra 3 for snes back in the day. there was this kid at my house that we didnt like whom my mom was babysitting. me and my sis were deep into the game, when this kid came up and said "hey, its my turn" and ripped the controller outta my sisters hand. For some reason i lost control and got up and kicked him in the face while he was sitting down. He got up and tryed to punch me and i ended up punching him in the stomach and he lost his breath and walked away crying. me and my sis went back to playing.....

I threw a Genesis controller at my friend after I lost a game of "NHL '94..."

...and it hit him in the face.

He was not happy.

"Return Fire" was the worst, though.

I'm amazed I'm not in prison, actually...

We're talking SERIOUS fights, here.

No, but my mother did.

When I was about 11 - Street Fighter II was big and I went to the arcades with my friends every day after school - unfortunately my mother tagged along with us. And yeah, she actually came into the arcade and everything - she'd read her newspaper in line with us - LOL. Anyway, the high school kids would always come along and challenge me and my friends. We weren't that good so they'd kick our asses - real quick. Whenever there were no high schoolers in the arcade it was like, "HURRY! Play the damn game and get as far as you can!" We'd at least stand a chance and not losing our money the second it went in.

So anyway, the fight. This one day I'm playing and some sweaty football dweeb comes up and puts in his coin, "da da da da-da-da! Here Comes a New Challenger!" My mother was sick of me losing all of my money to these guys and told him to wait his turn. He mouthed back at her with some foul language, said there was no rule against challenges. She said some stuff back at him, they exchanged some heated comments. He looked like he was going to hit her or at least spit on her face - but my mother, given how pissed she looked after his foul language, probably would have kicked his ass instead - and she was always very mousy. Of course he beat me - in the game, not in reality.

I do understand the frustration of waiting 2 minutes for your turn while some kid tries in vain to pull of a hadoken - sarcasm. There were some guys who had the decency to ask if you wanted a challenge - but most wanted the machine and didn't want to wait a second. And hell, there were SIX machines - so that shows how popular it was at the time. The other thing was the fact that people were waiting in line - they had their coins lined up on the machine, you know "I'm next, buddy - there's my coin!" - but they wanted to play solo. Arcades are dead, so I don't really have that problem anymore - hell I wish I did, I'd love a SF challenge now.

Bah whatever.

I once farted in my friends face when he was playing my virtual boy, so he smack me. LOL Oh and I was losing to another freind in that stupid pong mini game in lunar SSSC, so I threw a soda can at him. It was half empty though. :D

A few weeks ago, this guy was watching me play an arcade shooter, I was going for the high-score. I was getting pretty close to it too -- more people came to watch. Then, this kid, the kid who holds the record, was like... "I'm not letting you beat my score", and he yanks the cord out of the cabinet. He gets an electric shock and almost dies, and the arcade cabinet is fried. Asshole.

Yeah, the arcade I go to is extremely active due to the fact that there is a highschool next to it and it is near the middle of the city, so people get extremely fierce about it. Oh well, I own the record on roughly one-third of the cabinets in there. I even won a cabinet off them (Space Invaders in a FRAGILE! box).

That's pretty much the standard for great multiplayer games. If you're not punching someone in the shoulder, it isn't good enough. MULE, Mario Kart, Chu Chu Rocket, Super Bomberman 2 -- all those classics that allow you to screw the other person into the ground.

This is called fun.

My girlfriend and I "USE" to play video games against eachother , you know like mario kart or bomberman, versus games. If I would even smirk or show the least bit of happiness after winning ( which I won every freaking time cause I am amazing ) she would go bezerk and start beating the shit out of me. And it was so hard not to smile too , you know when someone is looking at you just waiting for it to come out. So we dont play versus games anymore.

Being the master of video games does have its downsides LOL

I got in a fight over someone who STOLE a game from me when I was 8. It was bad. They were a "friend", I left a game at their house, and when I went over the next day he said "what game" and didn't let me in his house again. grrrr.

I was often threatened but never actually got in a brawl because of a game.

People have sworn me out big time, but never did it get physical.

Verbal fights, all the time. But never fisticuffs.

I'll look at somebody with an oddly intent expression if they're doing something I don't like, and apparently it has the effect of making them take notice.

Heh.

Many times i have been in fights about videogames.
After a bought of UMK3 my little brother there the controller at me and broke my tooth. I would have broken him if my mom didn't get in the way.
Me and my cousin got into a scuffle over a game and i ended up leaving his house shortly after. He was swinging at me and i alm ost broke his bed when i picked him up and threw him into it.
I have gotten in a ton of fight with my little brother for saving over my files, trying to steal my games, unpackaging systems games and controlers to play all of which he knows he was never to touch.
I have gotten in some good fights in arades too.

I rememberr playing Revenge on the N64 at a freinds house a few years ago.

My friends brother was kicking our ass repeatedly in battle royals with Glacier. One time, the last two of us was me and my friends brother. Usually, it's my friend and his brother in the final two. I was kicking his ass with Meng and was about to win, until my brother, who CLAIMED he was trying to help me, pulled me out of the ring and my brothers friend won again. Needless to say, I threw my brother around my friends basement for a good 5 minutes, until I realized how retarded I looked. :embarrassed:
