edit: I believe it is actually a TurboCD - not TurboGraphx.

I need to buy one, the opportunity has come up - it's $200.00 including shipping. I copied and pasted what the guy says it comes with:

it come with the case to hold the system and the cd player one joystick ac cord and tv cord and system card 2.0

Is this a decent price? Is everything included that should be? Any input would be great. I'm clueless. x_x

That sounds high to me. A regular turbo system can be had pretty cheap. If you want the ability to play cd games - the TurboDuo is supposedly the thing to get. It is the unit and the cd add-on all in one.

Was there a specific game you wanted?

I would say no, you'd just be better off buying a duo around that price.

No doubt. I wouldn't pay more than 30-40 bucks for a Turbo Grafx with a game, shipped.

I think it is the Turbo CD system, actually - after re-reading what he said. Does this make a difference? It still isn't the TurboDuo - but it isn't the TurboGraphx.

nope...$200 is too much....

if it were a turbo duo you might consider....but not for a turbo grafx

Nah, not really I'm just collecting up systems to ooh and aah over. I want lots of games for it, but haven't given it serious thought as of yet. I think the games I want most aren't on the CD system... Splatterhouse and Bonk's Adventure (I see Bonk 3 is on CD, but not the other two).

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I'll hold off.

that's very high for a Turbo CD setup with only the 2.0 card.

Turbo CD? Way high.

Turbo Duo, not so high, but I believe D-Lite here still has some region modded Duo-r's for not much more, and is definitely the way to go.

yes, if you're going to spend a few bills... go the DLite way, he's the man, indeed!

DUO GOGO! Built in system card, cd and hu card support, composite connection.....why go with the cd addon? I can think naught of a reason.

How much is a TurboCD worth anyway? I can only find a few on Ebay and they go for about $130.

Durablility is generally the reason to get a CD addon over a Duo.

LOL With the amount of times I've fixed Hellvins machine I'll have to second that. But I havent really messed the cd attachment for the TG 16 so I'm not shure how reliable that one is either.

This isn't my first time playing devil's advocate on this topic... but I may as well voice my opinion on it, as no one else really seems to share it. :)

Advantages to a TG16+CD over a Duo.

1. Normal power plug compared to the Duo's MASSIVE wall wart.
2. Normal AV output - Duo has a proprietary connector.
3. The AV outs are on the rear of the system instead of the SIDE. YUCK!
4. TG16 will read CD-Rs MUCH easier than Duos.

And its just my opinion - but I think TG16 CDs are a little more reliable than the Duo drive. Plus I think the Duo is a rather ugly console. ;)

One thing nice about a Duo (which has been mentioned before) is you don't have to track down a System 3.0 card. But with a little patience, this generally isn't a huge deal - they pop up now and then.

For these reasons, thats why I believe D-Lite recommends the Duo-R/RX over the Duo. When he repaired my Duo, he put in a Duo-r drive, and I've never had a problem with it.

He also steadfastly recommends not using CD-R's since there is no error correction, and wears the drive out faster.

To address the topic at hand...

I would pay some cash American money! Wowy.

To address the Duo vs. TG-CD CD-R debate...

(sarcasm intact) Here's a brilliant idea that meets the middle ground, but it also requires some wishful thinking. With the release of Magic Engine 1.0 in the fairly immediate future (and hopefully the ability to play all the CD sounds), get a TV out graphics card for your computer, a cool joypad, and go to town, man.
