I am totally new to RGB gaming. The only thing I have heard about it is what I have read here. I never have come across one of the RGB monitors until today. I found a monitor from a tandy 1000 setup. Now that I had a chance to look at it, I only see a male RGB hookup. There are no RCA plug ins. Is there a way to still play my systems on this monitor or did I just throw away $5??

You need to get RGB output from your systems, that's all! Lol, RCA jacks won't give you RGB quality video output.

The info I was looking for is how to hook up a system to this monitor. The only thing this monitor has to connect to is male RGB cable.

IIRC, the Tandy monitors only do digital RGB whereas you need analog RGB for your videogames. I can't remember all the specifics (very tired right now) but I bought a monitor similar to yours for the same purpose and that's the short version as to why it wouldn't work.

Whoops! Well, I did a quick check of ye Google and I'll be damned if I see any way to convert Digital RGB to Analog RGB - certainly nothing cheap.

Sorry man, looks like you lucked out.

yeah google for something first instead of posting on forums and waiting hours for a response.

basically youre the proud owned of a $5 paperweight with a vengeance.

Personally, I'd forgotten that there WERE digital RGB monitors...I assumed it worked like one of the Commodore 1070s or some such.

My thought is that you can't ALWAYS ask for help before buying something, but it's usually a good idea to do that before dropping money on an old monitor.

Why would I google first?? I have never failed to have a questioned answered here. This community is based on helping each other with questions/problems about gaming. That is why I have been a daily visitor for over 8 years. Also, I would think you would want to come to the people who have the most knowledge about gaming.

As far as being a paperweight, I saw the same one sell on ebay $23.50.

Just a bit of advise since I see your a N00b of 2 weeks. If you don't have anything positive to offer, keep your comments to yourself.

Actually, he does have a point. When I had my Tandy monitor, about 5 minutes of Googling gave me the same answer you had to wait about two days for me to give you. Yes, postulio could have been much more tactful in his advice but considering you impatiently bumped your own topic a few posts back, you could have done a little looking on your own and found the answer yourself.

This is certaintly a community of people willing to help out a fellow gamer, but as someone who has been here a long time it sure does seem like people are getting lazy recently with the questions they could do a few minutes of research on their own and find the answers to. Not trying to pick on you Masco73. You're far from the only one.
