What are the games with the most lame names ever?

Lemmy Kilmister

Thinking right of the top of my head, both tactics ogre: let us cling together and Super Magnetic Neo are pretty dumb names. Though, i'm sure someone here is going to say something really fruity.

Probotector (Galatic Probolactix?)(European Contra's)

MegaDrive20XX

Divine Divinity... I mean, what moron came up with that one? What's their next project, a racing game called "Fast Fastness"?

Capcom vs. SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001... Great game and all, but every time I read the subtitle, I just think about rich guys in suits hitting each other with giant bags of money or something.

honestly, for the period in which it was created, that's a great, and offbeat, name.

my nomination:

bubba n' stix (genny)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned any of Zimag's 2600 games:

I Want My Mommy (Kinda odd platform game)
Tanks But No Tanks (Tank/maze game)
Dishaster (Possibly the only plate spinning game ever)

Although frankly, I love a company that has the balls to use a terrible pun for the name of their game, so I think it's awesome.

Communist Mutants From Space

LOL Honestly, that title would be 50 times better if they were from ""Pluto" or something.

Anything communist, especially mutants, is funny.

My vote goes for the game

"Shove It!" (Gen)

Anything with Japanese in it, or with poor Engrish translations, such as

Shenmue
Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Games
Chu Chu Rocket
Bujingai
Disgaea
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne

Runner's up go to any game with "Extreme" or "Xtreme" in the title.

That reminds me of when there was quite a few of those games released on the PC by a company called Headgames. PC Gamer would review those games and rip them apart.

i would have to agree with shenmue. the guy's name is ryo hazuka if i remember right. i might be mixing him up with a snk guy named ryo or something, but i have played through both shenmue games, and nowhere do they ever say who the hell shenmue is, or what the hell a shenmue is

There were supposed to be no less than sixteen games in the Shenmue series, you'll recall. So maybe by number eight or so, they would have gotten around to figuring out what the hell that meant.

My pick for dumbest name?

T&C Surf Designs: Wood and Water Rage (and its sequel T&C II: Thrilla's Surfari) for NES. It's only funny when you realize that T&C stands for "Town & Country", which is so totally not-rad as to be unbelievable. (It's kinda like naming a game for Ralph Lauren's Polo brand -- oh, wait, they did that, too.)

Also in the running: Granstream Saga. What the f**k is a Granstream?

Chu Chu Rocket has one of the best names ever, and the game is awesome too, great music. I would rather get a game with its original title then have the translators mess the freaking game order up, like what happened with Tales oF destiny.

Also games that have two numbers in them:

Final Fantasy 10 - 2
Strikers 1945 - 3

There is an MSX game called "The 3-Eyed One Comes Here." I've always found that title quite funny.

Also, I never cared for the title "Police Quest." I know Sierra was trying to keep a consistent theme going with their King's Quest and Space Quest series, but Police Quest sounds like Sgt. Joe Friday will be slaying dragons and hunting down magical treasures.

"This is the kingdom. Thousands of peasants and nobles call it home. When evil forces threaten them, I go to work. I carry a badge and a +2 sword."

My personal pet peeve are those games (like GTA: SA and VC) that convienently leave out the fact that really they're either GTA3-2 or GTA 5 or whatever. But the names themselves don't suck in the manner we're talking about here.

I can't for the life of me think of anything just yet (give me time). I'll second Dishaster though. Lame lame lame name.

LOL Jack Nicklaus' Greatest 18 Holes of World Championship Golf may have that beat.

Ahh yes, and what about "Lee Travino's Fighting Golf?" I've always wondered what this title means. Lee Travino teaches you how to win at golf by beating up your opponents? Or, Lee Travino has turned on golf and is engaged in fisticuffs with it?

Elemental Gimmick Gear
Guilty Gear
Metal Gear

And in particular, "Metal Gear 'Ray'"/ "Metal gear 'Rex'"

What awe-inspiring names! "Oh my GOD! IT'S METAL GEAR JIMMY AND STEVEN! RUN!"

Sounds like Konami took a poll of the most common pseudonyms employed at local gay bars, and named their giant, redundant robots after them.
"Hellllo, there! I'm 'Rex'!"
"Gosh, 'Rex'! It's really nice to meet you in perthon! I'm 'Ray'!"
"Wonderful! Do you have a room here, 'Ray'?"

Fat Bobby for the Lynx
Digger T. Rock for NES
Whomp 'Em for NES (it'd be fine if the character wasn't Native American, which makes it a vaguely insulting pun)
Dudes With Attitude
Awesome Possum Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt (it says that on the title screen) for Genesis
Cyberdillo for 3DO

To balance this out, I always thought Leather Goddesses of Phobos was a cool name.
