I got a Sony HDD a while back to play final fantasy online which is a cool game, paid about $150 for it but I am just wondering if sony is going to actualy do anything with it or let it go to waste all the other video game periferals that have come out in the past.
The games i know you can use with it are:
FFonline
Resident evil outbreak

The newest PS2 will not work with the HDD. That should answer your support question right there.
I think the 32X had longer support....
I'm in the same boat. I hear that the new Turismo will use the HDD, so I'm at least happy over that.
At least the thing adds weight to your system. That sucker stays put!!!

RE Outbreak File 2 will support the HDD as well.

Find a copy of HD Loader. It lets you install games to the hard drive and play them from there. And if you rip an import and dump the image to the disk by putting it into your Windows machine, you can play them with no mod chip. Yay.

Certain companies are working on an adapter that has been confirmed to work with the HDD.
Also for those with HD Advance and HD loader, the PSTwo has been confirmed to work with a USB HDD or an adapter and will be announced officially within the next month.

As a system support it seems like the HDD hasnt been supported well, people are just forgetting to look back at the many millions of units that have already been produced that support the HDD addition. Just because the new PSTwo doesnt support it, doesnt mean that Sony has pulled its support.
The HDD also is supported by SOCOM2 (new levels) and some other online capable games allow for new levels, and other goodies. Though its primary function is still FF XI and the expansion as well as the speed up of having RE:Outbreak HDD loaded, but thats a Capcom issue, not a Sony one.

a big hint on the lack of support and use of the sony HDD is that the damn thing came out 3 years after the console. seriously its like the 32x.
but yeah i bet this ffxi/hdd kit will be a pretty sweet collectable in 5+ years.

hmmm an external HD might actually be worth getting the PStwo, then with HDloader or something i could load up my games on one of my spare 120GBers.

You guys should consider that a USB interface for the hard drive will be MUCH slower than the standard IDE interface in the full-size PS2.

Other thing I thought about. If there's a USB HDD that attaches to the PStwo, I would hope that it would be one large piece that would snap onto the bottom of the PStwo, giving it more height. But if you do that, it really won't be much smaller than the PS2 was... LOL
I still think the PStwo is TOO SMALL....I think the Gamecube is small, and this thing is is the height of a GB Player @_@
