I was rummaging through some of my old stuff and i came across some of my Tiger handheld games. Castlevania, double dragon, you guys know the ones I am talking about. I got a little nostalgic and I went to a website that listed all these games. There are quite a few.
It got me thinking
How cool would it be to have a compilation disc of all these games? I would buy it. I mean, it sounds dumb at first but not when you consider how "retro" is in now. What do you guys think.
Each of those games could be played either full screen or on a render of the handheld or something.
Shit, i would buy it.

i dunno. i had the Karnov one.... but it definitely wouldn't be the same without playing it on an actual LCD screen. and hell, i don't even want to know how it would render the LCD stuff on a tv... yikes.

Ehhh.....nah, I don't think it'd be something I pick up. Then again I have no interest in those handhelds sooo....

Those games were passable when you were a kid, but damn...these days I'd rather build a model army out of my boogers and re-enact the civil war.

LOL!!!!
I'm with jibba though. It'd make a damn sweet game boy game, if you had like, 400 of those handheld games on the cart.

You know, I recently took my Metal Gear one out of storage -- the talking one, the one they used to have the cool comericals for -- and it's still fun. :D

Can anyone tell me who made the Garfield and TMNT handheld LCD's? I used to have both as a child and loved 'em both.

Was that all they made? LOL

I don't think they'd be able to release those, as practically all of the games were licensed and their contract must've stipulated that they ONLY could make non-console handhelds. I couldn't really imagine Midway Games and Konami both giving the green light to something like this as the games make their franchises look bad.

Seriously, they do! Mortal Kombat was awful. The barcode scannerzzzz Mortal Kombat was an interesting idea, but as far as I can tell the actual game is still pretty darn awful.

Castlevania II Simon's Quest? I suppose it looks alright.

Basically the characters look decent and sometimes the animations are sweet (i.e. Double Dragon), but they don't do anything. The closest any of these games come to the arcade original - far as I know - would be Paperboy, which IMO is easier to control than the arcade game. Everything else seems to be way off.

I will say that I enjoy the Tiger handhelds more than the TNMT Konami hack job I found a while back. Completely awful outside of the retro case.

Quote of the week! LOL LOL LOL LOL

I actually think this would sell to a small market, but like mentioned above, the licensing would be probably impossible.

Difference being the Game & Watch games are still fun. The Tigers were nothing more than cheaply thrown together cash-ins and don't hold up at all today. Besides, putting together a comp like that, even if the games could be emulated or simulated (more likely) the licensing would be nearly impossible to compile.

I'd be interested it it. I love compilations, even if the stuff is fairly crappy.

In all honesty, were they that great back then?

i remember playing alot of those games. they rocked hardcore. i liked the newer version ones they put out that were all square and had those little things in the corners (if you look at the pics, you will know that ones i am talking about).

i remember those. they were easy and fun.

I would buy one to use for target practice. Those games were so aweful, something that I liked sort-of until I got a Gameboy. Ugh!!!!

Only one I've got is Electronic Pinball by Tiger (blue case). Still an awesome little pinball game, and I can beat it backwards and forwards on three different difficulty levels.

My brother has one of the "Street Fighter" ports, but I don't remember it being very good. At least not compared to the SNES version, which was readily available at my buddy's house any day of the week.
