We FINALLY got G4, I spent all night last night watching it. I forgot about Starcade, I used to watch it as a kid. I loved it then AND now! Just the right combination of cheesiness, bad hair, dumb kids, goofy host, and classic games!!!!
Now I feel bad for making fun of all the people who like that stupid Whammy show.

The whammy show was great If I remember correctly it was called Press your luck !

Does G4 come with dish automaticly, or digital cable, or both? and what the hell does G4 stand for???

heh heh i'm listnening to G4 right now. of course its not a classic gaming channel most of the time and they show the same shows over and over but i like it for background.
STARCADE is great, our big New England Classic gamer's event in june will recreate starcade...seriously, on arcade machines, really. i may even play jeff edwards, club ninja can be kevin the announcer.

I would agree about Starcade! :D ...however only to a certain point....
Because although watching them is great, watching the SAME episodes over and over and over ay yai yai! x_x (which is exactly what G4 does). Especially since Starcade is the kind of gameshow you just watch an episode once or twice, and then there's no need to see that episode again.

My friend has G4 and it isn't too bad.Too bad all the people on the shows are really stupid and have no idea what they are taking about.But yea,Starcade is the best.The best show on G4 at least! :D >:( :-D

since we've gotten onto talking about G4-
i'm guessing their target audience is males 12-25 so bear that in mind, this isnt A&E or even VH1. i'll go thru all the shows i can think of to give you guys and idea of what they offer.
Filter- this show tackles questions from gamers on their msg boards and is hosted by a perky japanese girl (who clearly does not play games) she was one of the twins austin powers was about shag in goldmember. the show mostly does top 20 of (insert game genre here) lists and almost always concludes "devil may cry" is the best game ever. mostly this show is weak, should be called Filler instead.
Pulse- this show is just good, like reading thru EGM.
Players- this show focuses on the gaming habits of minor celebs, like what games do the "donna's" play on their tour bus. if nothing else its affirming that people who HAVE lives enjoy games, sometimes the personal gaming histories are a lot of fun.
Portal- does this show ever talk about other online worlds besides everquest? if it does i havent seen it, its a pure geek show and thats good on some levels.
Judgement Day- a review show thats not too bad although the reviewers could be a little sharper and not waste time reviewing games that do the same thing as 100's of others.
Icons- this is great documentary show on game pioneers like sid meyer and companies like activision, the smartest show on the channel although they focus too much on PC games.
Buzz- the news show, nuff said
The show where they fix gamers up with models- ughh this show makes me cringe, pairing up some dorky 16 year old with a starlet to play ride on arcade games. painful to watch since the premise of the show is "these guys cant meet girls and these girls will do anything for exposure" lots of lame shots of the guy and girl "bumping" when wave racer bucks. i hate this show but i cant turn away.
cheat- self explanatory, they even cover older games like 2600 adventure!
the video like demos of new games between shows- worth watching for, really helps you get a feel for the game
starcade- sugar on the brain, kids in tan cords and izods with wings in their hair kicking butt on pengo. its more fun if you root for the ugly kid to lose.
