Just went there last night. Big, spacious bar on 388 Union Ave. Take the G train to the Broadway stop and walk up Union 5-6 blocks. Also near the L train, dunno which stop though.
Nice and dark inside, like the arcade in the first TMNT movie (but more spacious). $3.50 Rheingolds, Magic Hat Presidential Ale on tap.
Off the top of my head, they had:
Asteroids, Budweiser Tapper, Zaxxon, Crystal Castles, Tetris, Donkey Kong, Ms Pac Man, Commando, Rolling Thunder, Rampage, Gauntlet, Outrun, Dig Dug, Super Mari Bros, Frogger, Centipede all lined up against the wall.
All in excellent working condition, all set to 25 cents!
That's awesome!
I wish I had a line up like that near my house.
isnt there a barcade in manhattan too? I have been there many times when I lived in Queens.

Is there one in Manhattan? Do you know the address or the general area>? I'd love to know I had a choice.

I was in Times Square a couple of days ago, and Broadway Arcade has bitten the dust. Not that they were great to begin with, but that's one less arcade around. Lazer park is ok, I guess, but it's for the tourists, what with its large novelty games (Ferrari 355, Top Skater, Star Wars Arcade, etc) and its ridiculous $1 and up prices per game. It's a bad sign when there's an ATM right next to the change machine.
The only real arcade around is VideoGameLand/Chinatown Fair in Chinatown. It's got that seedy, early 1990's look, despite the DDR machines. Shady looking teenagers pumping tokens into fighting and puzzle games, the volumes all cranked to 12. A decent selection of classics and neo classics, too: Golden Axe, Galaxian, etc.
Barcade really trumps every other arcade in NYC right now though, with its selection of high quality games classic games that are a quarter to play and don't have broken joysticks or panels sticky with soda(!?). Such great condition, too: I've never seen cabinets in such good (restored?) condition outside of a museum.

Isn't that the place with the Para Para machine too (I haven't been to CHinatown in months myself, overdue for a trip)?

You guys go to Chinatown Fair too? Maybe I've seen you guys without even knowing it. :P You'd be more likely to notice me, though, as I'm the white chick hanging around a big scruffy Greek guy playing Neo Geo, hehe. Last time we went, there was a crowd of kids hanging around SNK vs Capcom. My boyfriend beat a couple teenage Chinese guys, but once the 12 year old stepped up... it was all over. :P

I'm with you on that. Some of the Street Fighter 3 players are amazing down there. I am a match playing Street Fighter 2 but I never played 3 enough to really be able to compete with the better players.

Yup, that's the place with the Para Para machine. I usually play the Puzzle Boblble and Golden Axe, since the Street Fighter players in there are out of my league ten times over. The Puzzle Fighter players aren't too bad either- I think I was destroyed once within 10 seconds of the round starting.

As of yesterday, Barcade now has:
Tempest
1943
Berserk
Galaga
They also have Super Off Road, but it doesn't seem to be working just yet.

Usually if I'm in Chinatown, I'm with a group of friends roaming around Elizabeth Center or the arcade.
