This is mostly directed toward any people in New England, but anyone else is more than welcome to come!
AdamG and I are planning on going up to Funspot on the weekend of November 20-21.. Probably the 21st, because I think he gets Sundays off. I'm not sure about Adam, but I've lived in Maine my whole live, and never made it up to Funspot, which is in Weirs Beach, NH.
So post here and let us know if you'd be interested in making the trip with us, or meeting us there! The more, the merrier :)

Intriguing... I'd probably want to make it an overnight, though, since it's a couple hours there and a couple more back.

Make sure you get a pic below the "Perfect Pac-Man Game" banner there, complete with snappy Billy Mitchell one-liner! :)
That place is very cool, but its weird off season, since, you'll probably have the run of the place like my wife and I did when we were there at the beginning of the month.
When I think arcades, I like crowds, but its also nice to not have to wait either....worth the trip, and that area is very nice(around the lake)
I tried to talk them into selling me a mug, but the only way you can get souvenirs is by playing the redemption games :(
Also keep watch on your tokens, they date them every year, I had a bunch from 1986-87 which was kinda cool

I'm probably the closest person on the boards to Funspot... and I've never been!
I get sundays off every week so Jaime and I set this up for a day we both have off.
... we got to have more New Englanders ready for this! :)

Well, you can count me in, but since I live in RI right now I'll need to get a hotel room for the night.
Chad or anyone else, let me know if you're interested in sharing the cost of a room. :)
I used to go Funspot a couple times a month when I went to school at Plymouth State and have'nt been since 98. It will be cool to go back. :)

In order to get the wifely okay, I'd likely have to take either the wife or the wife and kids. I'm pretty sure you don't want in on that circus.

Not a problem....might be better to use your car, though. ;)
Chad, fair enough......you're right, that would be a challenge. LOL
Jamie, what day are we talking about doing this? Sunday? If it's Sunday, I'll go up on Sat afternoon, spend the night in a hotel room, and leave early enough on Sunday to get home at a reasonable hour.
I'll have to look online to find a hotel in that area also. Weirs Beach has TONS of them, but I recall some being better then others.

Well, I'm a little worried about mine, but I think it can handle the trip. :)
We still have time, anyway. I'm defentily going to go and I'll look tonight for hotel rooms in the area, and the offer is still open to anyone, yourself included.

For those of you that would like to check out the website for the place, go to:

Well, I checked out Funspot's webpage and then checked out some local hotels that they linked to.
I think this one has the best mix between price and a 'nice place':
http://www.baytop.com/index.htm
They still show availablity on the night of Novemeber 20th, so I've sent in a e-mail for a exact rate quote.
I can't call yet cause my roommates have been on the phone all night. :(
I'm looking at a room with two doubles so that someone can share the room.

i'm hoping this can work, i'd like to meet some new faces and spend more time sitting at the cocktail joust. if this a confirmed happening i'd be happy to spread the word over our NECG mailing list. i'm gonna try and rope somebody else into coming along. funspot is far but not so far from boston that you need an overnight, i've been there and back inside of an afternoon before.
dont forget topsnuf!

From Boston, I'd agree with you. From here, though, I estimate it's going to take about three hours to get up there. Just too much driving to do in one day and back, and I'd like to spend a little time up there as well.

sheeeeeeeet!
i live 10 minutes away from funspot. I could make it up there no problem 8-)
and I just might too.
man, I have been going to funspot since it was a tiny arcade in Concord. If you've never been, it's got a ton of old arcade machines. And what they don't have, the penny arcade at the weirs beach peir has! That's a few minutes away, but only open in the summer.
my only problem with funspot is that they have a big annoying indoor golf section that no one ever uses. and since they stuck all the old games in one area it looks like they have less. I remember when the top floor was open and the machines completely lined the walls all around and they had machines in the middle too.
That was way back during the first classic game tournament. Still got my mug 8-)

Noon sounds good here too... and I just thought of this... anyone know the area well, i.e. restaurants and the like? I have the distinct feeling that the longer this goes, the more we may need some decent food in us.

i know it well.
there arent many resturants near funspot itself. Inside of it there is a small resturant-ish place, but its not very good and its kinda overpriced.
across the street there's a resturant i think. a BBQ place. I dunno if it's any good or not, or if its still there. I havent been to Funspot in over a year.
HOWEVER, I know the surrounding areas really well. Hope you like fast food!
cuz thats all there is. Fast food and fancy-pants resturants that cost $50 for water. Unless you're willing to drive an hour away to go to a Chilis or an olive garden or whatever.
oh yeah, there is a chinese place that's not too far from funspot. They're not that bad.
name what you like for food stuffs, and I will list where they are.

Have fun guys :)

If anyone wants to do a get-together again I'm gonna head up. I'm about 5 hours away. I'd like to make it a weekend thing, though. I'll leave Friday night, and have all Sat and Sun.
I might try to talk my friends into going just because they are into poker. I'll play some poker and lots of video games.

Here's my bump, apparently us NECG's are heading up to funspot pretty soon, and I've opened up an invitation for anyone who needs or wants to stop by my house afterwards. I have enough land for people to tent out, and enough space downstairs that crashing for the night shouldn't be a problem.
I live roughly 20 minutes from funspot, and I know it's a LONG drive for some people. Figured if they can spend the night and head home in the morning, things might be a bit easier for them to attend :)
Also might make trading a bit easier than using trunks from our cars in the funspot parking lot ;)
