I've had this game for a while now and finally got around to popping it in my DC. I played it for a while and found that it wasn't aweful, nor great. I enjoyed it more that MK4 but it was still missing something, It played smoother and faster than 4 but still felt like just and upgraded MK 4. I finished the game and thought don't really want to play this much more, I was kind of bored the same way as 4. I loved 2 and was eagerly awaiting 3 back in its day and when I finally played it I was amazed by the graphics but the gameplay lacked someting form the first two, UMK3 came out and I loved the arcade version for the two player mode and just to mess around with so many characters in one game. They should've skipped 3 and jumped straight to ultimate. By playing gold It seems that Gold and 4 are just upgrades to 3D and added some new characters to it and some storyline but they essentially feel like the same game (kinda like tomb raider and street fighter) To me this series has started to show its age starting with 3 and continues to very badly. I also felt that the jump to 3D was a selling ploy and did nothing to help gameplay. My question to all of you is where do you feel this series has gone, has it gone any where at all? How are the new current gemeration releases of Mortal Kombat, are they better that 4 or Gold? Do you feel this series needs to continue? If it ended I wouldn't be upset one bit.

wasnt much into 4, it had its moments with the 3d awe, but in the end, i think i spent $1 at most in it

i do however like Da and deception, not sure why, but i do enjoy them.

also have mk 1 and umk3 as arcade cabs

I like MK Trilogy for the N64 the best. MK Gold wasn't very good but I had fun playing my friend at it a long time ago. I was that undead vampire wannabe guy and all I did the entire time we played was the move where he FALLS from the sky and does a fucking JIG on the opponent's head. That was about 20 minutes of good laughter there. Then we quit ;D.

Being shite at BEU's it's fun to have a blast at a fairly shallow slug-fest, I quite like the MK series. I am really looking forward to the new MK, it's got a Puzzle Fighter rip-off and 'Chess Kombat'! I am hoping they have learned lessons from previous inferior releases. I also think the GG and GBA versions were pretty groovy.

I loved the first two MK games but when 3 was released I lost a lot of interest. I didn't like many of the new characters and the run button was just an agravation to me. 4 was ok but I didn't play it much. Deadly Alliance just seems too complicated. When I say complicated I mean that it isn't as easy to just pick up your controller and play. I hate switching between the different combat styles. I have yest to play the newest MK because it looks like another Deadly Alliance. I personally would be happy if the next MK was more like 2 and less like Deadly Alliance but I know that won't happen.

I think most people miss the point here. This game has a fatality where Quan Chi rips your own legs off and then beats you with them. What's the problem here? LOL

The combat system in Deadly Alliance is good, but too complex to learn. Each character had to be learned separately. Too much work, and I'm to busy to put that much time into a game.

MK Gold was kinda ugly especially in comparison to other dreamcast fighters. It was ok to play but it felt like button mashing contest.

MK Trilogy was plenty of fun on the psOne. I don't know anyone that ever actually used the run button. Also the game made the series a lot less serious and a lot more "Cartoony"

four and gold compared to Deception is like comparing Mario is Missing (4/gold) to Mario 64 (Deception)

MK3 is easily the dud of the series. DUD. With a capital "UD." Everything about it looks rushed, gameplay is weakest of all the games, and the graphics just don't have the necessary "punch." Add in the lamest fatalities and I'm sound asleep by the time I hear the words "Finish Him." I will, however, say that the art direction of particular characters (Kabal, Shang Tsung, a few others) is dead on groovy.

MK Gold is actually the best version of MK4, which I quite liked when it debuted, and still like to this day.

However, MKDA completely righted all the wrongs of MK4/Gold and moved it into the stratosphere of fighting games in general.

I'm itching to get the latest MK game, but I'm afraid it might not be until Xmastime that I have time to get to it. Argh!

I really want to get Deception but I'm waiting till I get an Xbox. Trilogy for the 64 is my fave MK so far though.
