View Full Version : starfox 2
maybe this isnt the proper forum, but i guess that some of you may be interested in the fact that 2 friends and me translated the japanese starfox2 beta for snes.
get the patch here:
http://agtp.romhack.net
you can play it on your favorite emulator or build a cartridge if you like,
instructions are on my page: http://snesdev.romhack.de
we also fixed some bugs here and there that were still present in the latest beta and removed all the debug stuff so this patch is as close to a final release version as it gets.
have fun! ;)

I suck at soldering. If anybody was able to do the things to build a cart for me, I would happily pay for the services, as not only me but my friend as well are very interested in this. Do not get me wrong, I have played it on an emulator, so I know how fun the game is, it would just be cool to play it in cart form.

You would not be able to use a regular flash cart or SNES cart..you would have to kill an actual Starfox cart to make use of the specialized chip.

I figured that, because you would need a cart with the superfx chip in it.

Would the FX chip from the first Starfox even work? Starfox 2 was to use the FX2 chip (two 10.5mhz processors working in tandem), while the original Starfox used the FX1 chip (just one 10.5mhz chip.)
I believe SMW2, Doom, SFA2, and Dirt Trax FX used the FX2 chip, but I have no idea if they would be compatible or not.
Cheers

The website says that using a stunt trax fx cart would work.
stunt race fx, doom and winter gold fx are suitable as donor carts.
starfox 2 runs fine with both super fx 1 and super fx 2 carts.(the difference between sfx1 and sfx2 is the adressable memory, the speed is the same. both super fx 1 and 2 could be toggled between 10 and 21 mhz by software).
important is that your donor cart has 512kb of sram.
doom has no backup-battery, though.

so what do you think, i would be not only willing to pay for a donor cart, but for the services as well. i would happily pay $50 for it, just because i would much rather have somebody do this for me than to have me try and solder it and mess up the donor cart.

I'd like to know the same. Not to mention I can get a Stunt Race FX cart for a donor...
