Well it is certainly poorly written and the letter really does not make much sense to me. What ebay item is this in reference to?

Nope definite scam on this. Western Union money orders are the easiest to fake supposedly. These people will be out of the country (shipping adress). This is kind of a well known thing.

If ever in doubt, just email them back with:
"Computer says 'no'..."

Better to lose a potential bargain than get stung, I think.

Just take their money and then don't send anything. What are they going to do, complain that their scam didn't work?

Usually if I get a bad vibe then no deal. It's easy to walk away, let someone else who uses your approved payment methods buy. Do you even have 2 of the item in question? It all looks a little bit scamish, if nothing more than the crappy writing & broke CAPS.

Having said that, I've used Bidpay both as a buyer & seller, never ecountered any problems. It is a legit website that accepts credit cards & debit CCs as well, that's what I use thru them, to send WU Money orders. It costs the buyer a fee, not the seller unlike Paypal, so you'd actually make more money on the auctions that way. ;) And the person is correct, bidpay would send an email which lets you know whether the MO was approved or not. & they will forward over the buyer's info, and tell you that you can ship if you so wanted to, but I always wait unit the MO is in my hands before I ship.

The buyer of the MO thru bidpay has the option of having it shipped first class, or priority/express if they think it will arrive quicker the other way they can pay more money to get it to you quicker. I usually only send out first class myself, I'm not usually in rush.

I do not believe a WU money order can be voided once it's been shipped out. I don't think the buyer can scam you in this situation, other than by sending a fake email from a bidpay address, maybe fake you into believing it's on way to get you in an attempt to get you to ship prematurely.

I'm willing to bet it's one of those guys who will send you a fake money order for 1000.00 instead of 10.00 claiming it was an accident...and then request you send the rest back in money order. >_>

Don't do it.

every time I list a playstation game or system I get the email from the guy in africa. I've never responded but have forwarded to ebay as offer to buy outside of ebay only for the reason it doesn't seem right and its always a new member from like one day ago. Has anybody tried the deal to know what the scam is?
