Once in a while when out purchasing used game, I'll come across a game that is just incredibly filthy. I bought Ninja Gaiden II for the NES today, and I swear, when I cleaned out the bottom of it, it looked like someone has just jammed it in some mud or something (at least, I HOPE it was mud!).
Anyone else have any stories about the filthiest game cart you've ever found?

I had a copy of Maximum Carnage for the Genesis that worked fine but I thought I'd clean it just for fun one day. I swear I must have went through 20-30 Q-Tips on that sucker. Each one was almost completely black after wiping but the contacts didn't look that dirty. x_x

Dirt is not something that scares me.. it's smell!
I already threw out 2 games (luckly commoners) because they smelled *SO* bad..
some people hinted here that it might be the smell from cocroach droppings. Once it gets in the plastic, it never goes away.

hmmm good question. the game i received with the dirtiest contacts was contra force. it took 4 qtips before they stopped coming out black. the dirtiest cart cosmetically would have to be ninja gaiden 3. the cart had a brown tint to it, i swear x_x. both from ebay

I once picked up an Atari cartridge without looking at it carefully enough and the entire card edge had corroded into green crystals. One swab of the q-tip and the entire metal tracework was gone. It was amazing. The 50 cents was worth the experience alone I guess.

I picked up a copy of Alex Kidd for genesis last week, and it had this sort of crust crap all building up on the contacts. Needless to say I had to clean the hell out of it, but it works just fine now.

That's why you gotta ask the seller about the condition/cleanliness (sp) of the game you are buying. I learned that the hard way when I first got in the NES scene. I bought a copy of River City Ransom , that looks to be in decent-good shape in the picture , but when it arrived it was a whole new story. It was dirtier than a 2 dollar prostitute. LOL The carts contacts looked like someone had left them in the fireplace for years on end, and the cart itself was beat to hell. Needless to say , I always ask questions before I buy games on ebay now.

*sighs*
I'm sure I've posted it before but I still think this is like the nastiest trade in item ever. Once working at GameStop I came to work to find someone had traded in a bag full of NES games and cat piss.
*shudders*
I don't care if they worked afterwards or not but I soaked those fuckers in the bathroom sink.

My manual for Dragons Lair (3DO) had bird crap on it as well. I usually don't buy things that dirty, but it blended in too well.
I was reading the manual and then I touched that crap, needless to say I gave the manual a good scrubbing.

I've had a Contra cart traded in with spider webs around the connectors, and some sort of.. egg i guess in it too. That one got cleaned pretty hardcore.
This isn't cart related.. but seems to fit the topic. Some customers, who happen to be the biggest trailer trash you would ever see in your life, told me their Gamecube stopped working, and wanted me to check it out. So being the nice guy I am, I plug in the system and hit the button to open the top, and all of a sudden, a colony of ants, spiders, and one really big roach pour out of the system all over my hand. As I'm freaking out because I hate bugs crawling all over me, I tell them that I'm pretty sure I've found their problem. They look at me, and say, without any trace of irony or humor:
"Oh.. yeah, we have to fight those bugs off all the time."
WTF.

No offence, but why did you buy this game? Which game was it?

I see nasty looking carts in the wild all the time. I bought a loose SNES Super Smash TV cart once that was pretty dirty, and gave it one hell of a cleaning. I've vowed not to buy anything that dirty again, unless it's too good to pass up.

Sadly my only loose copy of clash at demonhead seems to be uncleanable. :( It also has a ton of shit moving around in it. You sould hear it, thing sounds like a pair of cucarachas.

Sorry...what is a q-tip???
I can't tell if you are joking or making fun or something , but I will answer this because it looks like you are serious.
A q-tip is skinny stick with a piece of cotton on the end , it is used to clean your ears , but people dip them in rubbing alcohol and clean their games with them too.
