Hey there! I just got 2 Super FAMICOM games, and I want to play it on my SNES system, but the cart won't fit. What can I do to play it NOW? Thanks!

You can enlarge the cartridge slot on the sides to allow the cart room. If you've got a good cheap SNES lying around, you might think about that modification...

How to do that?
Mine is a second model in excellent shape.

You're thinking of playing SNES games on a Super Famicom, Ed. A SFC cart can fit in a SNES with room to spare.
If you want to play the games immediately, you should remove the tabs from the inside of the cartridge slot. If you don't feel like modifying the system, you can also buy a converter (which is really nothing more than a connection extension).

Then you don't want to do it to that unit, I would assume!
Either get a cheap or pre-modified SNES off eBay or find one at your thrift, or buy a Real SFC (which I myself have put off doing).

Ok here's the deal, see inside the cartridge slot? (located in the upper right and left) the two plastic points side by side? Cut them off with a pair of wire cutters....snipping off the plastic will make enough room for the SFC carts, I have done this trick many times, it's the easiest way to mod a SNES for Japanese carts
You will see these two plastic parts are quite useless (that's why many USA Carts have those "U" shaped grooves in the back) and won't effect it's outside comestic appearence

I did it to a second model SNES. ;) It's not like we're talking about a top loader here, so it makes no difference to me.

I've got two loose Model 2s lying around myself...insurance against a day I go insane with modding, eh? ;p

Get a pair of needle nose pliers and tear out the plastic tabs that prevent the cart from fitting in. It is as simple as that.

Do they still sell those Super Famicom to SNES adaptors online anywhere? That's what I use to play my SFC games on my SNES. I have had the thing almost as long as my SNES though.

It's getting harder and harder to get them. eBay is really cracking down on the auctions for them (even though they allow so much other, worse crap to continue...). I was lucky enough to sell off my first one before they started ending all the auctions, and the second one I traded away here. The only converter I keep around these days is my Famicom to NES one (and my thingie that I use to play PAL PSX games, if that counts).

This will allow you to plat Super Famicom on your Snes also.

You can also use a game genie that has been fixed in the same way, with the cart blocking pieces removed.

Recently, I bought a Super Famicom for $5 and I'm very happy about it. Just thought I'd post that. :D

You can also remove the game board from its case and insert it. Sometimes you can even put the board in a domestic case, I believe.
Game genie is the least invasive, most available method.

This definitely works. I've done it to two SNES systems. No one will even notice they're not there.

If you use one of these, make sure to take it out when you play regular SNES games. My friend had one back when "Final Fantasy III" was new so he could play a Japanese Stunt Racer FX, and it wound up continually erasing his save games from the cart. Maybe a voltage issue?
