well, the guy isn't completely accurate in his descrpition, as it isn't the FIRST edition. The original Sega Genesis came packaged with Altered Beast, not Sonic the Hedgehog. I think the Sonic 1 package was the last one they did before the redesign of the Genesis.

I'm sure that he meant that it was the first version of the console itself and not the first bundle with it.

Then technically he's still wrong, since that's probably the third revision of the Genesis 1.

Genesis I Version 1 was marketed from '89 to 90, Version 2 took over starting with the AB bundle, then stopped being used a little AFTER the sonic bundles started, so there is a posibility it is version 2. Version 3 consisted of most of the sonic bundles and was finished Feb '92.

i had a still sealed genesis just like that.
in about 1992 or 93. it rocked. super game for xmas!
