If you like the Front Missions games, Give Ring of Red a try on PS2. Its a great underrated game.

The pickings are pretty slim on PS2 right now. But there a a few you might like. La Pucelle Tactics, Disgaea, and the recently released Phantom Brave, I haven't tried it yet but hear good things.

This is also my favorite Genre of games, so hopefully more are on the way. Front Mission 5 is coming I know, in the meantime there are quite a few on PS1 that will keep you busy for awhile.

Vandal Hearts 1 is great and 2 isn't as good
Final Fantasy Tactics
Vanguard Bandits
Brigandine
Kartia
Tactics Ogre

Maybe someone else can add to the list.

The GBA has an awesome selection:

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Fire Emblem
Shining Force
Advance Wars 1 & 2
Tactics Ogre
Onishuma Tactics

All are great games.

DEAR MRSUIT,

i CAN SEE THAT YOU DO NOT LIKE CAPITAL LETTERS, EXCEPT FOR THE LETTER "i". AS YOU CAN SEE, i AM YOUR OPPOSITE, YOUR NATURAL ENEMY, YOUR NEMESIS (http://www.weebl.jolt.co.uk/bull.htm), IF YOU WILL. FOR THE REMAINDER OF MY POST, HOWEVER, i WILL RESTRAIN MY TENDENCIES IN THE INTEREST OF READABIILITY.

M.U.S.H.A kicks the butt. It's one of the best shooters on the Genesis. Digital Press has the good taste to agree with me, as seen here:

http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=115541

There is a link to "Searchable Game Lists" at the top of this page, which you can use to find entries like that one. If you searched for MUSHA and didn't find it, that's because the entry is for M.U.S.H.A.

As far as turn-based strategy games go, I spent a lot of time playing Advance Wars (and Advance Wars II) (both for the GBA). The amazing thing about it is that it's portable, so you can fritter away hours on it anywhere. Also, I'm not sure whether you were referring to the Turbografx Military Madness, or the Playstation's Nectaris: Military Madness. I've played a bit of the latter, and think it's spiffy. Allied General and Panzer General are a couple more turn-based strategy games for the Playstation. I have 'em, but I haven't got around to playing 'em yet.

Another handy feature of the Searchable Game Lists is the ability to search across systems by genre. I actually just discovered this feature. And when I searched for games in the "Turn Based War/RPG Game/Simulation" category, I found a sizable listing. Try it! You'll like it!

I don't think that anyone mentioned Shining Force on the Genny.

Well I hope that you have Master of Monsters for your Genesis, because if you don't, then you need it! There's a sequel to it on the Playstation called MoM: Disciples of Gaia, and the same game is also available as an import for the Saturn, but it's called MoM: Neo Generations and it's harder in Japanese!

Master of Monster was also on the PC Engine CD.

Langrisser 2 was also released on the saturn. Can you play Japanese Saturn games?

There are a few on FAMICOM SUPER FAMICOM and PC-ENGINE!

FAMICOM has Karin no Ken by Square, early FDS RPG.

SUPER FAMICOM generates the excitement of MATEN DENSETSU, not to be confused with Japanese MEGA DRIVE game of the same name.

PC-ENGINE has obscure WAR OF THE DEAD role playing game from Victor.

Of these little is ever said...but all look to have their good points.
