I'm not sure what a fair price to ask for my N64 system is, nor am I sure the best way to sell it.

I have:
-- N64 system in perfect working order with manual
-- Expansion Pack (offical Nintendo one) loaded in system
-- 1 original gray N64 controller
-- 1 3rd Party controller with turbo and slo-mo
-- 1 3rd Party Memory Pack
-- AV cable and AC Adapater

How much would you pay for this system?

And how is the best way to sell it -- trade in, put on the Buying and Selling topic here, Amazon, or EBay?

$40 or possibly a bit more, as it's got the expansion pack - a bare one will sell in a GameStop for $30 all by itself.

Other stuff, well, good to have the memory cards but they shouldn't add a lot. Always nice to get them along with a system so you aren't hunting down extras on eBay.

Never mind? (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21201&item=8143426269&rd=1)

Well, so much for that. Still, the expansion pack is going to boost the value of that system...if you're gonna trade it in, try to find the original jumper pack and swap out the expansion pack. Sell them seperately.

you didnt mention if you had the box. either way its not going to bring you much right now. i dont care what EB gets for one, on the open market that set up is worth $30 and you'll have a hard time finding a buyer. third party controllers are rarely worth anything. i'm seeing these things left and right and they hardly sell.

Well, somebody is managing to sell one on eBay a bit above your expectations, Christian:

Selling wise, Ebay is a no no, people wont give you a good amount since they make "dollar bids" lately and there are too many N64's on Ebay at the moment..yet there are some exceptions

I'd recommend you'd sell it here on Buying and Selling thread

now since the N64 has the expansion pak with it...I'm gonna say $35 just like Ed estimated

So are you guys advising I swap the Expansion Pack out and sell that by itself (in it's original box) and sell the N64 with the original pack?

No, I don't have the box for the N64. The only thing I have is the box for the Expansion Pack.

I'd certinaly like to offer it on the B&S forum here, but I'm not sure anyone will offer anything for it.

Also, if EB can sell N64's with one controller for $20, I was hopefull to get a little more then that with the extra controller and memory pack.

Thanks, guys.

The Expansion pack alone is worth as much as the system, so to speak

Well as has been mentioned , the Ebay N64 scene is horrible right now. It's geting hard to get $19.99 for one with games.

And I can find N64's for $15-$20 at Pawn Shops ALL the time with expansion packs.

So you might be better off holding on to it for a while.

Heh, looking at eBay it seems things are pretty low...but for the life of me I can't find one Japanese N64. Randnet starter kits, yes, N64 units, no... :(

I think the N64 is a system with potential to be desirable/valuable in the future, but right now the market for it has pretty much hit bottom. This is the best time to buy/ collect, worst time to sell. Wait a couple years to sell it or you wont get shit for it! * Remember how much you paid for it all?*Alot more than $30 +shipping :D

The only system that is in a worse slump is the Sega Genesis.

I could probably do an auction for a Genesis package, stating that I would give someone $5 and ship it to them for free and still no-one would click the BIN button. LOL

oh ya, that is a crying shame right there, Genesis shot to hell on Ebay, but a great time for collectors of the Genny

It's only a matter of time before the N64 is truly appreciated again and a valued collectable. I'm sure we'll see a resurgance of interest when the kids who grew up with N64's become adults looking to recapture their childhood gaming memories.

Aren't the colored N64's selling for a bit higher than the stock black ones right now?

I recently saw a clear teal N64 for $30 at a second hand store. Kinda wish I would have bought it.

Allright, if anyone wants my Expansion Pack OR my N64 system bundle, shoot me a PM.

I'll hold on to the system for now and sell the Expansion Pack.

I paid $40 ($10 of that was shipping) for a jungle green N64, complete with all cables, two controllers, and two games (DK64 and Zelda - Ocarina of Time). I probably paid top dollar for it but I needed one desperately for OKGE.

I'll be another to chip in that you'd get about $30 for that, and you'd do better selling the expansion pak separately. I sold a similar package (san expansion pak) for $20 on eBay about a month ago. But considering that I bought the system, 4 controllers, a few cheapo complete games, and Mario Kart 64 for $20 and proceded to sell Mario Kart 64 and the system for a total of $30 and kept everything else... I'm not complaining. :P

Throw a box and some cellophane over it in there, though, and you could sell it for $100+ LOL

Yup, Jungle Green, Ice Blue, Atomic Purple, Fire Orange, Watermelon Red, and Smokey Black are worth $40 and up these days

I think the going rate for Genesis units is gonna be stuck in the rut for a LONG time. Same for PlayStation units - even worse with those actually :) Saturn seems to be...well...Saturn is just the Saturn; it's not exorbitantly priced and this is probably a great time to buy one. For the N64, I think it's gonna come back a little, but it's gonna stay relatively low for years. Low to moderate levels of demand aren't going to overcome the relatively smaller numebrs released that quickly.

Okay, so how much should I ask for a Offical Expansion Box with box -- $20?

jonjandran
11-02-2004, 06:13 PM
Well there is a guy selling Brand New boxed ones on Ebay for $15.99 with/ 6.95 shipping.

Yeah...maybe now's not the time. :/

Thing is, to get good prices for your stuff you probably will have to wait many more YEARS...do what you think is best.

Yeah - the colored ones are doing slightly better... I just snagged an orange one.

Well, that's why I'm only going to sell the Expansion Pack.

But the system has been sitting in storage anyway, so I'll keep it there. :)

I'd say hang onto the stuff. Places are blowing out N64 for rock bottom prices. Goodwill sells 'em for $10 complete (sans box of course).

I need to snag all the colors again someday...I almost had a purple one..that's the only one I have trouble getting a hold of

$20 sounds fair to me. Just make sure you push the Official part if you auction it off on eBay. As a buyer that is something I would look for, however, I just bought a loose official expansion pack for $15 at a second hand store and I snapped it up real quick because they aren't real easy to find outside of ebay.

ebgames.com is selling N64 for $17.99. After shipping, you can net one for $23. I got mine 2 weeks ago but the damned thing didn't work. I sent it back with the customer service woman's promise of refunded shipping and a replacement. It's been 8 days and I haven't heard anything. I expect to wait about 3 weeks before calling.
