Who here rembembers playing the arcade game Black Tiger? I rembember coming home from school and going straight to the arcade to play that game. I would play it and beat it every time without loosing a man. Anyone know if you can get it for a consol?

There's no home version, sadly I guess...it's a different sort of title from Capcom, has the Red Arremers from Ghosts 'n Goblins.

It's alternatively titled Black Dragon. Don't recall a Japanese title for it.

Hey Mr Suit! Be sure to stick your head into Arcade Alley, our arcade-related forum! There's probably someone who still owns one of those (I've seen several at auctions but always pass). Also, we can help you get MAME set up, so you can play it on your PC at home!

Wasn't a version of this game planned for NES?

I actually own the JAMMA board for Black Tiger.

Love the game, but since it wasn't released for any home system, I just bought the board.

It's a lot of fun!

I could have sworn I saw an advertisment in an old mag about it being on the nes.

Actually it was in one of those Game Player's Buyer or Nintendo Strategy guides. I still have it. It was planned but it never came out. Believe me, I REALLY REALLY wanted that game back then.

If there was ever an NES proto I would like to see turn up, this is the one. I still have that old Game Players mag with the pic in it. I still wonder if it is a pic from an actual NES version or not.

Here is a link: http://nestral.topcities.com/nr2/blackt.jpg

[EDIT: You will have to copy and paste it into your browser to see it]

Does anyone recognize if that photo is from any version of Black Tiger out there? It could be from an entirely different game altogether...who knows.

What do you mean it has the Red Arremer? Is it like the Gargoyles Quest series :-P

The Japanese title is Black Tiger, and is a very pricey PCB. Not sure what the US version runs. I would hope cheaper. And yes, Capcom should be shot for not bringing it to a home version.

It has the Red Arremer as an enemy. It's not like Gargoyle's Quest at all, I'd say that's an unfortunate thing. It's a sort of mix between Castlevania/Ghouls 'n Ghosts (with various crazy weapons, main being a sort of flail/chain whip type weapon), and some wierd pole climbing/jumping game...plus you've got armor that falls off, except instead of Arthur's cutesy undies, you've got some buff dude running around. AR AR AR!!

To be perfectly honest, not a favorite of mine but I haven't played it very much at all, so that opinion could change.

There's no home version,
There is for home computers. The game was converted to the usual platforms (C64, Amiga, Spectrum, Amstrad and Atari ST) in Europe. Rather average conversions though. (http://www.classicgaming.com/amigareviews/blacktig.htm)

I was just gunna, chip in with that, i had it on the C64 and that game was the shhhhhh! (well i really, really liked it!)

When i was alot younger, i would chant, black tiger, black tiger, Black-Hooooooo!!! when i'd jump across a ledge and whoop some ass! :P

Gee's that was some time ago, i will have to find that game again! i know it will be a huge let down now since the advent, of super dupa games and modern consoles.

I really liked black tiger, if i'm not wrong i got it in a "Capcom Platinum Pack" (in the UK) Which included 5 other Capcom titles, and i think led storm was like a bonus game, which i played to death as well.

I loved Black Tiger. There was a unit in the SUB in my old college SUNY New Paltz circa 1987 (gulp). Very cool game, and loved those dragons. Thank god they never made a NES version. I'm sure the graphics would've been butchered to Nintendo flickerama!
