Normally, I would write Super Mario Bros. But, I think my new ultimate favorite game is Ocarina of Time. It really makes me love my N64.

Battletoads for NES.

And, while I'm here (and because I love posts that wear out their welcome), I have to admit I'm surprised at the number of new-ish games on a number of people's lists--way more than I expected, especially in this forum. And, while I'm here, here are the runners up to Battletoads, in no particular order:

Maniac Mansion for NES
Earthbound for SNES
Final Fantasy II for SNES
Final Fantasy III for SNES (both II and III are the games' US numbers; the Japanese numbers confuse me)
Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball on SNES
Earthworm Jim on Genesis
Toejam & Earl on Genesis
Toejam & Earl 2: Panic on Funkotron for Genesis
Bust-A-Groove 2 for PSX

Also, three runners up, that need to stand the test of time before they have the power to bump any of the above games from my top ten list:

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for PS2
Gitaroo-Man for PS2
Katamari Damacy for PS2

I have many games that I would consider my favourites, but the one game that came closer to perfection than any other is definitely:

Zelda: Ocarina of Time

In my top 10 games of all time, it easily reserves the first 5 spots on its own ;)

Mine is SMB3, hands down the greatest game ever.

So many choices... But definitely Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

As for fighters, KOF98 and MvsC2 are constantly battling for my love.

I would probably have to go with Super Mario Bros 3. I never had an NES, but whenever I went over to a friends, I would beat the game with him. I think I've beaten it possibly 100 times for the NES, on Super Mario All-Stars, and for the GBA. My fastest time ever is about 30 minutes. My next favorite games are, in order:

Final Fantasy Anthology
Final Fantasy Chronicles
Chrono Cross
Final Fantasy Tactics
Super Mario World
Warcraft III/ Frozen Throne
Gran Turismo 2
Halo 2
Starcraft/ Broodwar

Grobyc

Mine has to be..............CHRONO CROSS for PSX. This is easily my favorite game ever. I originally played it at Sealboy's house<look above>, and I fell in love with. My name is Grobyc for God's sakes! and my symbol is Pip. I like many other games, but Chrono Cross is the pinnacle of RPG's, and gaming altogether. (Sigh) Ah, Kid. The memories, the memories...

Super Metroid on the SNES. Metroid was my favorite game when I was really young...and Super Metroid took everything that made the original so great and expanded on it 100 times! I love it!

Some of my other all time favorites include:

Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World
Sonic the Hedgehog (any of them)
Mega Man (any of them)
Mega Man X (any of them)
Final Fantasy II, III, VII, and XI

Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES. Brings back some of the fondest video game memories for me.

Well, the game with the most replay value for me is definetly ESPN NFL 2K5. I bought it the day it came out, and I still play it to try to 100% the game.

However, Street Fighter Alpha 3 is probably what I'd say if I only had a couple seconds to answer. Definetly an amazing fighting game.

I'd say Mega Man II. That game was near perfection. I'd vote Super Mario Bros 3 but that one is way too long (on the NES) to beat in one sitting these days, without using warp zones, like I used to when younger.

Like many people, it's hard for me to pin it down to one game but a handful of my favorites include...

Tempest 2000--The one real reason to own an Atari Jaguar
Super Metroid--The only game that ever kept me up an entire night.
Super Mario Bros.--I like the entire series and have been playing New Super Mario Bros. like crazy the last few weeks on my DS. I guess I need to get Super Mario Bros. 3 on the GBA so I can play that on my DS.
Pac-Man--The original arcade classic which I've played on too many consoles to keep track of.
MVP Baseball--No matter how many games I play of this, I'm always ready to play it again. Too bad there will likely never be another edition of it.

1. The Legend Of Zelda
2. Super Metroid
3. The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker
4. Dragon Quest VIII
5. Super Mario Brothers 3
6. Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night
7. The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past
8. The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess
9. Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic
10. Snatcher

The Great Dane

My favorite game of all time is Suikoden. I love the entire series, but the first is what got me hooked back in 1997, and it was also my first rpg to ever play. The story was, and is, so interesting. The music was so good, and very emotional at times. The characters are also very lovable. To this day I can still go and play through it, and it is like the first time I played it.

So runners up:
1. The Legend of Zelda series
2. The Super Mario Bros series - The original was my very first video game to play and I was hooked ever since then.
3. Fire Prowrestling Returns - In my opinion, it's the greatest wrestling game ever made. 327 wrestlers, 500 edit slots, ring edit, logo edit, and ref edit. There is so much in this game.

Well my all time favorite game of any genre is:

Downtown Nekketsu Story (River City Ransom)

I could honestly play that game into oblivion, albeit the fact it doesn't have all of the cool looking sprite moves of other beat 'em ups, there's just a fun factor there that's awesome. I'll take either version of the game be it the original Kunio one on Famicom, the PC-Engine version, or the NES Americanized 1950s J.D. version. The RCR EX one that Atlus put out on the Gameboy Advance doesn't exist to me, didn't like all the changes they made to it. That said my top 10 games are:

*DTNS/River City Ransom
*Bare Knuckle II: Streets of Rage
*Final Fight
*Street Fighter Zero 3
*King of Fighters 2002
*Rastan Saga
*Shock Troopers
*Metal Slug
*Max Payne
*KILLZONE

Pretty sure this has been done a dozen times already, but for what it's worth: NiGHTS.

Awesome answer. Game never gets the full credit it deserves. People will say it's one of the best games for Saturn, but never give it full credit for what it is: one of the best games ever. And definitely one of the best without a sequel. WTF SEGA.

As for me, my favorite (and also one of the best without a sequel) is Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Saturn. And here's what I don't get when I tell RPG fans that they should kill themselves for not having played this game yet: they're complaint is the $100+ price tag. How can people justify paying $60 for a mediocre game for their X360, but not pay twice as much for a game 10x as good? .... sorry, stuff like that justs bothers me............ on a happier note, Final Fantasy Tactics, FF 7, Tecmo Super Bowl, and NiGHTS follow closely behind on my list (and they're all much more affordable)!

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

YAY!! Me too! It's for completely sentimental reasons, but I love it all the same. Others that top my list are:

Shenmue II
Earthbound
The Longest Journey(PC)

I really have too many, but those are generally the ones that first come to mind.

Right now, in my current state of mind (it will change), I would have to say Paper Mario for N64. I absolutly HATE RPG's (except Shenmue), but I thought this RPG was a piece of electronic art! Paper Mario was just as good for the Gamecube too. A close second for me would be Rampart (arcade). An online version of this game would probably knock Paper Mario out of it's #1 spot.

My favorite genre is vehicular combat. I've played loads of them, from Fatal Run on the Atari 7800 to Outlander for the Genesis to Vigilante 8: Second Offense for the Dreamcast. My favorite car combat game would, by far, be Roadkill. I've played that game through something like 9 times. I even bought it for every platform it came out on, Xbox, PS2, and GameCube. Love the crap out of it.

@ Steve W: That's interesting, I'm also a fan of those games, but no mentioning of Carmageddon, Interstate '76 or Quarantine?
Roadkill? I don't even know that game.. have to check it out I guess ^_-
Are there any notable differences between the three versions of the game?

Are there any notable differences between the three versions of the game?

I loved Carmageddon to pieces, but after upgrading to a Voodoo3 card, it wanted to render in software only mode, which looked terrible and got kinda glitchy. Carmageddon 2 (the Mac version, at least) was slow as hell no matter how fast your machine was, and the missions they forced you to go on kind of ruined it for me. Interstate '76 never got ported over because the company doing it went out of business, and I think I've only played Quarantine for a few minutes on a 3DO store kiosk back in the day. But now that I finally have a 3DO, I need to track that one down.

There's no outstanding differences between the three versions of Roadkill. I noticed on the GameCube version that the textures on the assorted signs around town weren't as sharp as they were on the PS2, and the Xbox's graphics for lighting effects tend to be better looking. Other than that, no difference. If you pick it up (and really, why wouldn't you? It's a great game that shouldn't be too expensive now) remember to use the D-pad to turn the radio to Geartalk 96.2. The guys will pretty much explain all the weapons you can eventually obtain, during their conversations about blowing up old people and running over hookers. :-D

Chris
05-23-2007, 04:54 PM
Ahh yes, the first Carmaggedon is still the best, such a shame that I've never managed to get it running in high resolution with a steering wheel -.-
Could even be my favourite PC game of all time.
You should check out Quarantine, it's a silly little gem, that is a bit rough around the edges, but still tons of fun. The soundtrack is ace, too bad that it won't really run on my PC, as it lags to no end under DOSBox, but I got my fingers on the Playstation version recently, which curiously, has never been released outside of Japan.

Anyway, thx for the Roadkill info.

Monster Farm. I got the game after my first year of middle school and I'm still playing it now in my 4th year of college. Over the years I've made monsters from literally thousands of CD's. I tried MF2, but I didn't like the changes they made, especially redesigning the Dinos and making the Worms (my favorite) a hidden breed. So it's the original for me.

There have been so many games that I bought and hibernated for a week to play 8+ hours a day. The most recent have been:
Fable
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I & II
NBA 2K7
Metal Gear Solid 2

Me and a friend of mine have been on that kick for the last few days playing Super Mario Worl on SNES right to see who remembers the most secrets.

I know this is a lot but Mike Tyson's Punchout and Super Dodgeball for NES and the arcade release of Street Fighter II are still at the top of my all-time list.

Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Super Castlevania IV
Super Metroid
