yo,
so, i'm starting to look into the PAL exclusive games and oddities for DC, as i'm getting close to finishing the US set. which brings me to this problem....
In Europe there were the DreamOn Magazine Demo Disks... 22 of them, to be exact. now, i seem to be finding conflicting information on them. some say the disks all came loose, others say with slimline jewel cases and an insert card.... So what is the real deal with these things? did they come disk only? can any Euro folk help me out here? somebody must have some of these disks.
please help me shed some light on this :)

i have about 15 of them....
all came in slimline cases except issue 2 for some reason, that came in a normal size cd case...
the inserts were just covers for the cases really...
i think the guy Articus (cant spell i t right) on this forum, his website has them all on with pics, (except DreamOn 3.. which i have in my collection    )
Those came with the Official Dreamcast Magazine. There are 21 Dreamon GDs, as the first issue of the magazine featured a video instead of a CD. I have all GDs and the video. The numbering is: Issue 0: video, issues 1- 21: GDs
We also had DC-UK issues 1 - 20, this magazine featured 2 CDs over the time: Fur Fighters Demo Disc, and Action Replay CDX Demo version
We also had Dreamcast Magazine Issues 1 -34, which had books and 1 CD over the time: Dreamcast Magazine Audio CD
Further we had Dreamcast Monthly (I only have issues 1 + 2) and Mr. Dreamcast (lasted 2 issues, I have both), neither had CDs covermounted.

there is no correct answer to your question, let me explain ;)
in the UK on ODM you got disc 1-21 in sleeves, in germany there were less dreamons because the mag didn't run that long iirc, in germany they came in slimline cases with the exception of nr2 that came in a normal case
disc 22 was available from dreamarena i think, not sure about that, gotta ask arcturius about that (dcarchive.scalenet.co.uk)
you've also got the DreamOn Collection Vol.1 -4 not sure how you could get those and of course the discs tom mentioned

Issue #15 of the UK ODM came with 2 discs - the DreamOn demo and Planet Ring in a standard CD case. Also, the last issue of the UK ODM had no coverdisk.

thanks for all your answers, this is helping me immensely.... another quick question. i was checking out www.dreamcasthistory.com, and there are scans of all the DreamOn disks, there.... all of them seem to have covers and/or insert cards, except the first disk, which has only a slimline jewel. did that have an insert? thanks
Weird, my last issue of UK ODM has a GD, and it is like a 'Best of' CD, eg demos of previous issues.

Her's a little rundown on UK ODM demo CDs:
holy shit tom, that list is great, thanks! \m/
i'm still looking for a confirmation of whether each and every dreamon had an insert for the case. no one can verify?
How you mean, 'an insert'? like a front and back cover?
My stuff is in storage in the UK at the moment, as I am moving to Germany on Sunday 7th. (from France, where I am at the moment).
All my stuff gets sent over to Germany by Feb 2005, so I cannot help you, only from memory (not the best)
As mentioned above, CD 1 (issue 2) came in a 'normal' CD jewel case, others came in a slimline jewel case (as used for music singles). Inserts were just front covers, as far as I can remember.
Although Dreamon CD 1 on DChistory.com has me stumped, I have never seen it. I have all issues, CDs and the video, so this needs investigating.....

tom if you have the UK ODM, then why did your dreamons come in jewel cases? this can't be true, uk issues came with sleeves, german issues came with jewel cases...
and about the DreamOn 1, i don't know where it comes from (maybe german odm) but i have it

Which issue is that?
I know one of the late ones had a 'best of' demo, but I'm 90% sure that the last (or certainly one of the very late ones) was disc-less. I think the mag was £1 cheaper as a result.
Can't check now unfortunately, since I sold all mine to hydr0x. D'ya wanna prove me right/wrong, Jan? ;)

yes, i do mean a cover... although the slimline jewels accomodate for only a front cover. this Dreamon business is one giant mess.... @_@
To HyDrox question:
click on the link below, on the DChistory.com site:
That is how the UK Dreamon discs came in, a slimline jewel case.
http://www.dreamcasthistory.com/pics/demoseuro/dreamon22.jpg
but also 3 or 4 CDs came in a cardboard sleeve for some reason, so you are right as well (Don't forget I am writing this from memory, all my stuff is still in the UK until Feb.)

look at my listing for last issue of ODM, CD #22

Well according to http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8142426027&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT they're all in jewel cases. If this thread hasn't died by the time they arrive I'll confirm it.
Of course,
France had a Official? Dreamcast magazine too, with cover CDs. Haven't found any issues yet, and I don't think I will.

holy hell that was a nice auction. worded kind weird in the subject. nice find for true.
PLEASE PLEASE let us know when you receive them if they are all complete with inserts/covers and whatnot, and even better, if you could detail which ones are in slimlines, and which standard. THANKS!!

Heh. Think I've remembered what I was confusing it with - the last issue of ancient Amiga/ST/PC mag Zero was missing the usual coverdisk and was cheaper than normal.
No idea how I got them mixed up though, since they were about 10 years apart  LOL
Yes, I do that sometimes, but usually I have my stuff in my room, so I can always check. For now I have to wait until Feb 2005.
But I do remember now........
1 UK ODM (Dreamon 2) came in a 'normal' jewel case
18 UK ODM came in a slimline jewel case
2 UK ODM came in a cardboard sleeve
plus one video (Dreamon 1)
I lived in the UK for 17 years, and own 1500 UK gaming magazines (they all gotta be shipped to Germany), so it is normal to get things mixed up sometimes......

I placed that bid late at night and then spent the next day wondering whether I should have taken the £28 BIN or not, as I was still at work when it ended. I e-mailed the seller and he says they are UK DreamOn discs - I'll post the results when the parcel arrives (fingers crossed for Monday but I doubt it).

Finally arrived and everything looks complete and good, although a few of the cases have small cracks.
They are ALL in slimline cases with clear backs, except for the first 2:
DreamOn Vol. 2 is in a standard case with the inner (the bit that holds the CD) in clear plastic.
DreamOn Vol. 1 is in a standard case with one of those flip-over middles that lets it hold 2 CDs. One is the demo disc, the other is a DreamKey disc.
