Jet Grind Radio...
the cel shading is incredible in that game, and in my opinion, has never been equaled.

Though I haven't played the game (I want to, but I'll wait till ps2 drops significantly in price)... Unlimited Sa•Ga. Looks amazing. Hand Drawn 3D Backgrounds and Hand Drawn 2D Sprites.
Only thing that looks even a little better to me is the new Shining Force game: "Shining Tears"

Yes. SNES Zelda was probably the best tile-based 2D sprite graphics ever done.
I'm very much a fan of the style of architecture that has been used in the Jak and Daxter and Beyond Good and Evil games. Both games/series' are very much the same in style and I think it is beautiful.

Just...no. No way. No way, no how, DUDE. That's insane.
Especially in the Dark World, many of the tiles were weak. SUPER WEAK. Take demon-faced stone blocks. So...bad.
In any case, you missed the chance to talk about your favorite *art style.* Zelda LttP isn't an art style...it's a game.
I'm one of those people that LOVE the cel-shaded games. ESPECIALLY the ones that are a mixture of cel-shade and another graphic style.....Klonoa: Lunatea's Veil for PS2 as a great example. The foreground is cel-shaded, the background is "realistic".
I like cel-shaded games for their bright coloring. The contrast is higher, making the game easier to "see". Depth perception can be a bit tricky sometimes, though.

REZ & Wipeout/Wipeout XL (Wipeout 2097)/Wipeout 3
Futuristic, streamlined, slick and very much based on the feel of electronic music and intelligent dance music.

i really loved the cel shaded, noir comic look of XIII. it was a great matching of style and form and if you were lucky enough to play it on the cube or xbox it was smooth and slick.
the power of the current consoles affords developers the choice to dump photo realism in favor of signature looks, a great trend IMHO. i wont go into a long rant about what art styles i'd like to see in games but i'm really hoping that HDTV and next gen console power will make new styles possible. imagine a game with the rich deep colors of an oil painting, the gauzy light of impressionism and the majesty of a great landscape painting. all the better for those of us who game to visit another reality.

just about anything NEO-GEO especially Samurai Shodown/King of fighters series/and especially the METAL SLUG series @_@ Only NEO-GEO has that perfect arcade feel and graphics look
when i play them on my EMU it takes me back to the good ol days of the arcade and the only thing I had to worry about was when i was going to get a new Genesis or SNES game :D
now its all about child support and dealing with my exes and paying bills x_x
life was good at the arcade before I ever had any interest in women anyway

oh, that reminds me. I love the look of P.N. 03. That game is just beautiful. So much white! No fancy textures. Just smooth, uncluttered environments. A minimalists dream.
