Konami did it with Metal Gear Solid 2: Son's of Liberty. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance was a pretty geed way to bring out a game half a year later to a new system.
The Silicon Knights developed Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes felt even better. Everything good about Sons of Liberty (including the Graphics) went in. I wish they would have updated the VR Missions disc with that as well but, no biggy.
So is there any chance Konami will release an updated version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on say... Xbox? I know it would make my day. Even if it just a direct port with a few extras. Twin Snakes was the first Metal Gear Solid title I played (I played Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge before) and I had to have more! So after I got an Xbox, Substance gave it to me and I was a happy camper. And since I don't have a PS2, and don't plan on getting one any time soon, I really have no other option than to hope for a port.
Would anyone else be willing to hold out for an Xbox port, or updated version of "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater"?

as for holding out , the answer is -no- , i'll still picked up the ps2 one ...and when the one for x- box comes out, i'll trade my ps2 ones in(ebgames) and get the xbox version !! hehe , it's like how -how can you savour the sweetness of victory ,befor tasting bitterness of defeat !!( i think thats how it goes) the point is that you 'll never understand how good the new one is, until you played the old ones( then do the comparing). it actually worth the $$ for a proven franchise title(MGS konami)

I don't know, man. This game was specifically designed for the PS2. Even though the XBox version of Substance was just fine, there was still some minor slowdown compared to the original. Do you just prefer the XBox controller or something?

There is no way in hell I'll be able to hold out on this game for more than 10 minutes when it's out. I'll need it as fast as possible, or I might explode.

are you talking to me ?? no i don't like the xbox controller , it's just that i thought the xbox ones might offer something extra(like with fatalframe1 and 2..sound and extra costume) also i got one of them adapter(for $2 at the dollar store along with some s video cable for a $1 apiece) for the xbox, so i can use my ps2 controller on the xbox

Yeah, I'm talking to you. The XBox version of Metal Gear Solid 2 added stuff...the same stuff that was added to the re-released PS2 version, which runs smoother.
