This was posted over at www.neo-geo.com, just thought that eveyone here would get a good laugh out of it.

Nintendo is set to file suit against Sony next week, declaring that the Playstation brand, and all of the profits made by Sony from it's sale, belong to Nintendo. While reading over the original contract between Sony and Nintendo (Sony were to make a CD drive for the Super Nes, entitled the Playstation), a lawyer for Nintendo noticed some key wording which showed that it was Sony's responsibility to make the drive, and that they broke the contract, not Nintendo, like initially believed."

"According to sources, Nintendo is almost assured a victory, gaining all the profit's made by Sony off the Playstation since its introduction in 1996. Even if Nintendo do not win outright, they are guaranteed the rights to the Playstation name, and Sony will have to immediatley change the name of their console.

No lawyer could pull that off. no matter what is on paper someplace. You would die before that could be settled in court.

Agreed....Sony just has too much money. A fight like that will only end up harming both companies, with the long, drawn out trial, and the expense.

In the unlikely event that Nintendo actually won, would Sony be required to recall all PSX and PS2 console and games for name changing? I can see instant Tengen Tetris but very unlikely though.

Personally I don't think that suit would hold any water. Nintendo should have said something much sooner rather than to let Sony continue for so long.

That's probably the 637th lawsuit Nintendo bought since they came to USA in '85. But how many lawsuit did Nintendo actually win aside that Tetris flap?

They did get the suit against Blockbuster for making Xerox copy manuals didn't they? That's the only other win I know of.

i was just reading the story about how nintendo stood up to universal pictures in the donkey kong=king kong lawsuit. coleco cracked and agreed to give universal a cut but nintendo held its ground and won in court. gotta admire their independent style, they are the last real game company left in the console biz.

i just wish they'd make a virtual boy multicart for me...
