a friend was telling me there was a game similar to landstalker for genesis, that was either a sequel, or resembled landstalker alot and was made by the same company for GBA. anyone know anything about this?

There is a sequel to Landstalker. It's called Dark Savior...for the Saturn. No sequel on GBA.

Ladystalker on SNES is a semi-sequel too.

O.o

It does? If anything Goldensun has the sprites of Shining Force 3 and the battle cutscenes from Shining Force 1. Being made by Camelot and all.

But I wouldn't say it plays or looks anything like LandStalker.

Although if you really want a game that plays like LandStalker check out Dark Saviour or Alundra. Dark Saviour's made by Climax, developer of LandStalker. And Alundra's made by Matrix Software which is apparently a division of theirs.

As for GBA games similar to LandStalker... erm... *thinks* Maybe your friend ment Shining Soul? The character artist between the games is the same guy, and they're both action RPGs. Although Shining Soul is an icky sucktastic title and I wouldn't reccomend it. Shining Soul 2 on the other hand is pretty sweet.

Timestalkers is NOT a sequel to Landstalker. It's also really really really REALLY bad. What Climax did is take main characters from most of their games, then throw them together in another game with a hack job storyline and a crappy RPG combat system where you lose all your levels every time you leave the dungeons and say "there ya go!". I'm a HUGE fan of Landstalker and so I bought Timestalkers when it came out and it's one of the few games I got rid of right away. It's a stinker....pure and simple.

Yeah, i have played all those games mentioned, and i consider none of them to be a sequel to landstalker. Calling any of those games a Landstalker sequel would be a joke. I actually haven't played golden sun though. Maybe that is what he was talking about.

I guess there can only be one Landstalker. It would be hard to out do that piece of classic gaming history. Maybe it's better that way.
