View Full Version : Give me ideas for Genesis features!
I've been working overtime to get some quality articles on my site. The latest one is on the history of the Shinobi series (http://www.sega-16.com/Feature-Shinobi%20History.htm). I have a few more "history of" articles in the works, as well as a few on unreleased games and such.
Since it's pretty overwhelming to do this alone, I need you guys to help me out! Got any topics you'd like to see covered? Any games you'd like to discuss? Let me know! I'm always in the mood for some good ideas.
Remember, you can also write a article and submit it if you'd like. As long as it's accurate and decently written (I do proofread them), it'll most likely be posted.
So, what's on the Genesis menu?

The Genesis was well known for sports titles so I would like to see a feature about that. I know most collectors don't care much for sports games but the Genesis era really exploded that trend in gaming and it would be nice to see some of the history or impact it had on the gaming industry.
I'm going to to a pigskin feature for Thanksgiving (the second "holiday Gaming" article) but yeah, a sports feature would be cool. I'm not that knowledgeable about the quality of the NHL or golf games but I loved Tommy Lasorda Baseball and the World Series games.
An article could also be done on the "other" sports games, like the Mutant League titles and stuff like Powerball and Cyberball.

the "other" sports games sounds like a good idea I loved the Mutant League games. It would also be interesting to know how many sports games are on the Genesis the number has to be way up their.
BTW keep up the good work I check your site regularly and it keeps getting better.

Arcade -> Genesis translations would be fun.
Just so long as it includes Gauntlet IV :)

Glad to see im not the only one that has trouble thinking up these things :)

I'm actually going to start a feature called "side by side" that deals with how the Genesis versions of different games stack up against the SNES, PC-Engine, and arcade versions.
Anyone willing to help write some of these? It's too much for me alone! @_@

Perhaps another idea can be to write about how Electronic Arts was one of the 3rd party software companies that had innovative games that really put the Genesis on the map. (Before they turned evil, that is...) I remember back in the day that I was looking at my collection, and was noticing how many of my games had the two-tone boxes that was EA's signature back then...

Hell, even if you put the fighting on 1, you can still just hack up the goalie with a chainsaw to score a free goal...
Just make sure you DON'T use your goalie for fighting, you gotta protect that goal over all else.
Making the Demon Net explode after a goal is still fun.
@Melf: I could probably write up some sort of Baseball article for the site.
@thegreatescape: What's your review name?

An article on the unlicensed games (Wisdom Tree stuff, Action 52, there could even be a mention of early EA releases) would be cool.

I think you should do a Rpg feature. Alot of people think the SNES was the best 16 bit console for Rpg's, but to me they were all the same cutesey graphic style no variety. The Genny had many pc ports including the excellent and underated Buck Rogers Countdown to Doomsday, a great port of StarFlight. Many of the first strategy games to come to consoles, Centurian, Herzog Zwei, Master of Monsters, Kings Bounty. The first Strategy/Rpg's Shining Force series.

And how about Phantasy Star, Crusader of Centy, Dungeons and Dragons, Traysia, and many more

I like a good number of Genesis games, but the system really lacks it overall. Graphically, soundwise, also arcade ports like Double Dragon 3 are half-assed, even games like RBI Baseball are better on the NES than on the more powerful GENESIS. Launch games like Altered Beast are aging horribly, whereas ones like Super Mario World are doing fine.

Manimal:
In that case it would be pretty easy to bash ANY system, by mentioning only the bad games for it! :p

I'm still waiting for the second part of a feature that was started =)
Also, Perhaps something on the Good the Bad and the Ugly Fighters... considering there was an explosion of fighters in the 16 bit Era.
