I've just won this auction:
Vintage Sega Genesis Development equipment lot RARE
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8142555388&fromMakeTrack=true
I've bought it principally for the 3 protos (just to discover what's inside...). Does anyone know what is a "Genesis 32mb daughter board"?
Thanks!!!!!
Nicola

A daughterboard is an extra PCB that sits somewhere on the original circuit board (which then becomes a motherboard), could be used for anything from extra RAM, decryption of software or anything additional that the original board didn't have.
That said, since I don't know a lick about Genesis dev I'm taking a wild stab when I figure its RAM expansion of some sort.

:(
First the seller was sick, so he wasn't able to check the emails.
Then he told me the total and I've paid with paypal.
BUT paypal didn't notify him. After some days I've sent him an email and he said that I've paid but he didn't receive any mail from paypal...
so finally he shipped.
Give me 10 days...

I've got one of those myself, minus the three games. The 32mb daughterboard is essentially hardware ram that could be used from anything to getting an increased performance rate or to simply test something out. As a Genesis fanatic, I would love to know what it is that are on those carts.

And finally I've received the package!
There is a daughterboard that powers up when inserted in a mega drive-genesis.
There is a proto board with battery that holds 8 EPROM but sockets are empty..
AND there are other 2 protos (with really different shape). After a few try they are both working. In one there is a pal version and in the other the ntsc version of
ESPN SPEEDWORLD :puke:
BUT I cant't find if this game was released in pal version. Where may I find it?

There's no released PAL version (to the best of my knowledge). Nice score! :) I'll add a mention of it next time I update the Mega Drive section.
Got any nice pics of all the boards? ;)

I can take all the pics you want but I have no place to host them...
I may send them to you if you want.
So may I be sure there is no released pal version (and prepare the Champagne!) ?

That'd be great if you get the chance! I'll be able to post 'em in this thread.
You can send them to me at *removed*

Well, there's 4 ESPN Genesis titles, and I've never heard of any of them being released (or rumoured to be released) in Europe. I think you can probably pop that cork! ;)
Out of interest, how do you know that one is NTSC and one is PAL?
When trying it on a 'wrong' region machine do you get an error message, or does it just not work?

Ok, tomorrow as I wake up I'll send all the pics.
It's a pal version for 2 reasons:
First on one proto there is written "Genesis" and on the other "Pal"
Second I tried both on my modded mega Drive. The Genesis one worked perfectly in 60Hz, the other one had the typical screen "this game is for use only...". If I switch to 50Hz pal it works.
I didn't have the time to see if there are differences. Now I'll go to sleep (it's 1:30 am)

Thanks Anagrama. BTW the game looks complete, and "perfectly" playable (horrible game).
I've been extremely lucky :)
