But, what I am not sure about :embarrassed: is were there any movies released for it?

A handful...check the online Rarity list just below your private message link at the top. Woody Woodpecker Vol. 1-3 for starters....

There were no feature films that I know of though.

One model of the 3DO had a VCD adaptor made for it... it will play VCD movies if you have the adaptor in it.

VCD is a format that never caught on in the States... think low-res DVD and movies generally come on 2 disks. It was (and still is) big in Asia. Very easy to make, copy, and pirate.

Your DVD player will most likely play VCD's, so it isn't worth it really.

I don't believe the 3DO had any movies of its own.

Cheers

Indeed, as the fellows above have stated, there were no movies created specifically for 3DO other than the shorts and soft porn that you can find listed in our rarity guide under "Demos, Samplers, and Non-Games".

You may be getting the system confused with the CD-i, another multimedia concept that had a wide variety of movies formatted for it. Many of the CD-i units had the digital video pack built-in or easily added, so that machine is better known for its movie choices. 3DO is tougher because only the Goldstar had a wide-release VCD add-on.

I thought VCDs sucked personally, two discs for every movie and such poor res really annoyed the heck out of me. I am personally not a big fan of the 3DO, there's a select few games that i likes but I just don't enjoy the system very much. I would suggest that unless you are collecting for the 3DO don't bother searching for Woody Woodpecker they are just too expensive, I would suggest that you would have a better time with finding some games you enjoy and just sticking with that, unless you want to collect, then good luck with your collection. :D

BTW does anyone have a complete US 3DO game collection? Joe I imagine your pretty close, anyone else working on, or have a complete collection? Reason I ask is I want to get some feedback on "the worthwhile factor) of collecting the system. I don't get much playing enjoyment out of it, so is it at least enjoyable to collect?

I do. It was fun to collect though there's a lot of junk. You can "see" pretty much the whole collection in our screen shot gallery, I did all of thse myself over the course of a week of 3DO gaming.

Since this has now become a general 3DO topic, :P ....

How about a 3DO homebrew scene? Is there one?

Joe your collection blows my mind. What systems do you not have everything for, or what will you go after when you have Saturn out of the way. I may actually go after a boxed 3DO collection after all.
