Rambo III for Genesis: An underrated classic!

Am I the only one who considers Rambo III for Genesis an underrated classic? It NEVER gets mentioned in any "Best of Genesis" topics. To me, it's an almost perfect action game - great graphics that have stood the test of time, AWESOME sound effects, fast action, cool weapons, and just plain fun gameplay. Even after all these years, I'm still not tired of it.

Plus, it's Rambo - what more can you ask for? :D

Anyone else agree?

I love this game as well. The ending is kind of "meh" but the game rocks. It was actually the game that put me over the edge about the Genesis. Those boss battles looked so awesome back then.

It actually has held up pretty well too, as launch titles go.

I remember being all enthralled with the digitized graphics on the title screen...

A pretty fun game though, I liked the way Rambo would spray bullets when he stood still.

I'd beat that shit on all 3 difficulty settings at once blindfolded if I could.

Fighting the pair of Soviet choppers at the end of the game in the highest difficulty setting takes alot of patience. They can keep you pinned behind that one rock for quite some time. They fire so much they won't give you time to fully charge up the fire arrows.

Ahhh...memories... I gotta play that sometime soon. I havent' seen it in years. Rambo III for the SMS, though....that's a great classic too!!

hell yeah,thats a great game.great gameplay,great graphics,just a fun game.plus,im a fan of the rambo movies,so it was even cooler to me.anyone with a genesis that likes action contra type games should pick this game up right away.its a little slower paced then contra,but its just as good.plus,the way you would fight a boss,especially the helicopter,it was cool the way you would use your bow,good stuff.

That game was hella! fresh, I tore that game up. 8-)
In the final level you can't continue if you lose all of
yout extra lives. You have to start all over again. O_O

I also like playing Crossfire on the Genesis too. 8-)

Funny thing is I've been playing this on occasion recently via emulators. One the first Genesis games my stepfather and I played alot of. Decent graphics, especially in the opening and the helicoptor fights and great gameplay!

LOL! I just got Rambo III today from eBay...I got it with 2 other games: Liberty or Death and Menacer for Genesis. I actually got the lot for Liberty or Death, but now I'm interested in trying out Rambo III too.

i had this game back in 1990 or so...and it was very averge.....it was just allright. ..the digitized scenes looked cool though

My friends had that way back when and it was great but we couldn't get too far at all. I remember liking it, I'll have to find a copy and go and enjoy it again.
