Damnit. Portable Metal Slug sounds really fun. But a life bar??? C'mon now. And who are those characters? Where did they come from? Why weren't the originals used. I hope it's actually fun. I'll wait for it to come out and see the reviews.

Guys, don't worry about the life bar. It's not what you think. In past Metal Slug games, you had no life bar and multiple lives. In this one, there's a life bar, but you have only ONE life. So, in essence, the life bar is just a different form of the multiple lives you had in the other MS games.

Yeah, I am looking forward to this game too. I will have to make a confession that the first time I have EVER played a Metal Slug game was about 2 weeks ago in an arcade in Las Vegas.

I spent about 5 bucks on it. It was so damn cool, the game I mean. If I was asked to best describe the game, it would kinda be like Contra on steroids.

It seems like an excellent game so far. I'm currently stuck on the boss at the end of Stage 1 (I haven't had too much time with the game yet).

In each screenshot the background is heavily repeated. Also, the character sprites are thinly veiled edits of older artwork. It's just really ugly compared to say, CT Special Forces.

Unfortunately I heard CT plays poorly, anyone try that one?

Looks like it will be a decent game to add to a GBA library. Just one problem I see with it though.

Marco doesn't appear to be a playable character. Him being absent in a Metal Slug game doesn't seem entirely right to me. :/

I have. It seemed decent, but it didn't really do anything for me. I'm having a lot more fun with Metal Slug Advance.

Another underrated GBA action game is Action Man. Despite the most generic name on the planet, it just oozes freshness and creativity. However, I don't even know if it was ever released in the U.S. (I'll be honest and admit that I played the rom). The GBA version of Action Man isn't to be confused with the GBC game of the same name, which is said to be crap.

playing it on actual hardware now. dont kid yourselves its a tough game.

looks very nice, no complaints here. slow down occured once when there was like 6 people on screen and lots of nades in air, shots etc.

Passwords. Otherwise it's a fun game. Not perfect, but fun. Haven't played any of the sequels, though I hear 3 added a battery save.

Game looks great, I just wish they would have kept the E-Reader support (at least I think they dumped it as it isn't mentioned under its features on SNK NG USA consumer anymore)
