Modern Sports Game Suggestions

Normaly I've only played a new football game each year. I've stayed with some tried and true games like the RBI Baseball games, Blades of Steel, and Double Dribble.

Now I'm interested in getting some modern baseball, basketball, and hockey games. I'm espeicly interested in games that are heavy in the simulation aspect. I love the off market stuff of recruting players, improving the team, working out salery problems, and the like. I enjoy playing the games also, but I'd like sports games that have just as much sim aspects as Madden 2005 and ESPN NFL 2K5.

I'd prefer the games for the XBox, but I don't mind considering a PS2 or GC version if it's better for some reason.

I'd prefer the games to be as current as possible -- 2004 or 2005 rosters.

I've tried to rent some from my local stores, but they must be popular as they are never in. :roll:

Any suggestions?

I definitely agree with MVP Baseball 2004. I've played both GameCube and XBox versions and both play the same but the XBox one loads and saves much faster.

I only have played ESPN, haven't played a EA NHL since NHL 2003

I thought All-Star Baseball was pretty good. I haven't played the newer rosters yet, but I imagine it's basically the same.
