I'm having a hard time believing that it's not a pirate, becasue it has no seal on it and it says "Smart Boy" on it.
Plus Nintendo has always spelled it Bros., not Brothers.
The "legal info" is just typed on a white piece of paper.
Anyone have any more info on this, I may be wrong, but seems like a fake to me.

I don't see any reason why Nintendo would change the mold of their NES cart casing for this lone rental outlet. Pirate.

The "Smart Boy" red label is also on a tetris game....I don't know anything about the rental part. The Tetris and SMB3 labels are identical (except the lettering of course), so it clearly comes from the same source.....pirate or not.

Considering the copyright is from 1990 rather than 1989, I would say it is fake.
It's a pirate. I've seen others like it.

Id buy it if it was like 3 bucks. I just wouldnt spend more then that unless it was a proto or something.

A definite Pirate. I've seen many like it. The case alone screams pirate. All nintendo demos, as I understand it used official Nintendo shaped cases.

I remember seeing something about some Smart Boy game or other a while back. Then, as now, it was concluded to be a pirate.
Doesn't hurt to bring it back up though :)

um, i am pretty sure he did say it.
i could care less if it is a pirate or not. it looks cool. don't get me wrong, i already own 3, so no need for that copy.
