Because I have no original ideas, if I were developing games, they'd probably turn out like Urban Champion. In any event, I've recently been wowed by Nights, Rez, and and Katamari Damacy, so I was hoping you guys could recommend more games that are a bit different. From other threads, I think Ico would be a good start? And it doesn't have to be current gen - suggestions for any console are welcome. Thanks.

Definately Mister Mosquito for PS2 and Incredible Crisis for PSone.

And for a bit of the slightly lower-quality...
Mad Maestro
Stretch Panic
Magic Pengel
Irritating Stick (PSone)

Hmm....quirky stuff, huh?

Space Station Silicon Valley for the N64 is a weird puzzle/action game where you take over different "dead" animal carcasses to solve objectives.

One of my favorite games for the Dreamcast was an RPG called, I believe, Evolution. Similar to Cubivore, you had to randomly strand DNA and make body parts in order to evolve a simple amoeba into various creatures along the evolutionary scale.....ultimately arriving at 100% human.

I could seriously kick myself in the ass for dumping my all-mint Dreamcast collection. Now I have to start all over again with scratched stuff from the wild. That was really stupid.

Bangai-O (DC)
Mad Maestro (PS2)

All I can think of at the moment....

There are so many wacky games, especially overseas.

Incredible Crisis for the PS1 is wierd, really hard to.
Toilet Kids for TG-16 (coolest cover art ever)
Wario Ware is a really wierd game
Any game with a special controller is real unique, maybe not wierd but unique. Besides rythm games cause there is a decent amount of them.

Panorama Cotton for Mega drive......whats so unique? how about a witch riding a broom! All in beautiful 3d levels, with 3d graphics way better than any SNES game!

E.V.O The Search For Eden: this has to be one of the greatest games ever. very original and fun. you start out as a fish and kill enemies to get evo points to by new body parts. you will be a fish, then maybe a reptile, and eventually if you get it right you're suppose to evolve into a human, but i have never seen this. i highly suggest you pick this game up. no one i have ever met has said evo sucks. it is for snes. kinda hard to find on ebay. it's tricky. look it up like snes evo or snes e.v.o can be had for about $35 loose.

Pieces: another snes game, this has to be one of the rarer games. it is made by atlus, and is a REALLY fun puzzle game. you grab pieces of a puzzle and drag and drop them in the right place of the puzzle. lots of original elements and thereally fun 2 player mode make this game a must have. $14 loose

Victorious boxers ps2: most original and fun boxing game ever.

landstalker the treasures of king nole: best action rpg ever made for the sega genesis. made by the people responsible for thie shining games. my favorite game ever.

wonder boy in monster world: great sega genesis action rpg.

splatterhouse 3: awesome 2-d final fight style fighter.

metal warriors: another snes title, this game has some great 2 player action. and the one player is nice also.

I spy operation espionage: most people don't like this, but i think it one of the most original games ever made. a basically you have a team of agents with special abilities. for example, hacking, fighting, bombs. speed, lock picking. your team is hired to break in to places and steal stuff. like a painting for example. cool spy game. for dreamcast

sword of the berserk guts rage: dreamcast. great game.

shining the holy ark and shinng in the darkness: darkness is for genesis, and ark is for saturn. these are both great games.

skygunner ps2: very original shooter. go buy it why you can still find it.

i could go on and on, but i am going to stop there. all those games may not be original but there all fun

Gitaroo Man for PS2.

I would have to second Tail of the Sun for the ps 1. Very cool game. It recieved some horrid ratings, but it really is unique and I think it is a really fun game.

Also, even though it may be very short and pretty easy, I would have to suggest Jumping Flash for the ps1. I finally bought this game the other day at EB for $2 and wow. Such a fun game. I haven't played many that are as fun as this is. Too bad the series was cut short at part 2. I would have liked to see another one of the PS2.

OH! I forgot 2 more great games. The Sly Cooper series. These games are awesome. I played a small demo for the first one about a year ago and I thought it was fun. Then I rented Sly 2 the other day and wow what a game. Extremely fun. The gameplay is excellent and I personally think that the story was done in a very cool way.

So, there my suggestions, hope I helped :)

I'd say Skull Monkeys for the PSX. Not the most original in terms of gameplay, but the setting and soundtrack are wicked cool.

All of the ones I've thought of have already been mentioned (Road Trip, Katamari Damacy, Magic Pengel, Rez, etc.).

Here's another one:

ICO.

Yeah, everyone here probably knows about it, but there's no denying that it's unusual in its own special way.

For that matter, the original Neverhood (PC) was pretty "different" too. The same could be said for Bad Mojo ("The Roach Game"), which incidently has a rerelease imminent.

also forgot about shipwreckers for ps1. pretty fun game where you just sail a pirate ship and kill stuff.

also treasures of the deep for ps1. i didn't like it but many people seem to.

hogs of war is a good turn based war game similar to worms, but WAY better. pick it up.

Just to clarify.. Evolution is a pretty standard RPG. Nosing around, I'd assume that the game you're referring to is Seventh Cross Evolution? Haven't played it but it reads about the same.

Not exactly the strangest, but it is the only RTSRPG game (series) out there-

Ogre Battle Saga (Episode V: March of the Black Queen, Prince of Zenobia -jp only, Episode VI: Person of Lordly Calibur)
