I bought Activision Anthology on the weekend and started wondering about it with respect to emulation.

If it's legal to hold a ROM for the cartridges that you possess, is it equally legal to hold the ROM if you have the game on a compilation disc?

If anything, AA proves that these games can still make money.

Funny, then, that Activision demanded that AtariAge remove all Activision ROMs from their site.

I'm not saying it is or it isn't - just wondering and hoping to stimulate some conversation about it. Maybe I should've just kept this in the Emulation forum.

I can see why AA removed the ROMs though. With the games being offered in stores you become a definite target, and nobody wants to be shut down.
