I have only played several of the resident evil games.
I want to start pickin up a few of the better versions.

Thanks for the help!

Well I have only played the ones for playstation. I like 1 the best just because it takes longer. But the other 2 are also great, but I beat them my first try in about 3 hours. They are just so easy and its not to easy to die on them.

Whoa dood are you serious?
I played Resident Evil 1 + 2 for the PS and I didn't think they were easy at all. Have to conserve your ammo to much.
Maybe I am nub LOL
Resident Evil Nemesis. Just so damn scary being stalked by a 7 foot tall Zombie. You never knew when he was going to pop out of a window or show him self on the other side of a door.
Get the Playstation version it has the best controlls.

if youre whilling to pay a pretty penny you should get them all for the cube.
my favorite is RE 2 but RE 0 is nice as well
either way you should try to get them alll.
RE 1 is worlds better for GC, they remade it completely.

Even though it's not out yet, I'm going to say 4 has got to be the best. My reasoning is solely based on the fact they did away with the human-tank control scheme. That's deserved to die for a loooooong time.

My favorite is still Resident Evil 2, but after playing Resident Evil 4 tonight, I dunno. RE4 might become my favorite. It's...just so awesome getting chased by 10 guys, including one guy with a chainsaw. Then turning around with a shotgun/pistol and mowing half of them down.

Resident Evil 2 is my favorite, followed closely by the remake of the original on the 'Cube'.

RE 2...so far, is without question the best of the series. Many hours, excellent story, great weapons (remember the upgraded shotgun and magnum!?! POPPIN THE ZOMBIES HEADS RIGHT OFF! Eggcellent...), and overall spookier than the others in my opinion. :D

I like RE2 with 3 being a close second. The control has always killed them for me though. I am glad they fixed it in 4 but I don't consider that a RE game in any way, shape or form. I think they just took another game and decided to throw the RE name on it just to get the contact with Nintendo done that much faster.

my favorite was RE1, it was darker, scarier. PSX or Cube, it's still pretty damn good
RE2 is wonderful, but it really turned the zombie idea into a sci-fi horror..yet I always come back to it time and time again
RE3 I loved because of the extra monsters and how it was longer compared to one and two imho.
Code Veronica, pretty damn cool, but god I hate the fact you are stuck with the crossbow with Claire a majority of the time...I hate that damn weapon...and the Poisonous Hunters...yuck...
Resident Evil Zero was the hardest for me, but it was pretty good to tie in the storyline's loose ends (especially the underground Lab from RE2 that makes a cameo)
Yet I strongly felt RE2 needed a remake like part 1 badly

You should see my record...1 hour 23mins...Leon Game A...Zero Saves...
See the thing is, about survival horror games, I have a photographical memory, I know locations easily, but numbers and codes i write down and save for later while playing

Well overall yes 2 is my favorite, they just could have made the game longer. 2 was very easy and I never beat 1 because I dont have it. But I remember laying with my freinds for a few hours and my freind tony said we werent even halfway done.

One of the requirements of a photographic memory is the ability to memorize and recall things as they appeared...such as codes ;)
So really you've got something which most other game players (especially men...please don't kill me, just the facts ma'am!) do...a very good sense spatial awareness and recollection. *shrug* whoop-de-doo.

RE4 out? Negative. It comes out on Jan 11 or so?
Anyways, check your local Gamestop out, their kiosk demo should have RE4 in it now. It's the demo from E3, I believe.
Anyways, it kicks ass.

My record, wasnt really trying to speed through it too fast, was about 1 hour 45 minutes or so with 0 saves. I think its pretty easy to memorize locations in that game also. Dang I still need this game. :embarrassed:

My favorite was RE2. We waited a long time for it, and it was worth every penny. I loved the Zapping thing.
RE1 is my second favorite. Gotta love the first time those dogs crashed through the window.
Then RE3. The Nemesis was the shizzz. I also like how you revisited locations from RE2.
I didnt like Code veronica too much. I was getting bored with the series by then I guess.

I'd have to agree that 2 was so easy. My friend bought it and we traded off playing for about 2 hours and played all the way through. I don't think we had it on the hardest setting but I think we at least had it on normal.
Does anyone here prefer the n64 version to the psx one? Less loading times but no dialogue from what I've heard. Which one do you guys prefer, that is those of you who have played BOTH versions.

Here are some reasons why I prefer the N64 version:
- No CD load times, but keeps all of the FMV scenes
- Improved in-game graphics
- High resolution screens
- MoSys FX Surround sound.
- Faster game play.
- New, hidden costumes.
- Custom feature that allows players to adjust the intensity of the game.
- Change the color of your enemies' blood and adjust the level graphic content.
- New scrapbook. In previous versions of Resident Evil 2, players found clues in books and files to help them complete the game. Nintendo 64 players can access dozens of items and game information from stories published on the entire Resident Evil series, and save in the scrapbook to view at any time.
- Randomizer -- After the game is played once, items will be relocated randomly, adding additional replay value.
- Analog controls and alternate control scheme (allowing for quick turn).
- Rumble Pak support.
- 4MB Expansion Pak Support for high-resolution mode.
- EEPROM saving -- no need for a Controller Pak.

I agree, the 64 verison is nice to have, but I love the DC's art gallery..but the one bad thing for the N64 was the missing "EX Battle Mode"..having Chris Redfield playable with the classic Rocket Launcher and his Beretta (With Zombie head-popping action) was tight....
other then that...the 64 verison is top notch...I need to find all those EX Files...some are fun to read (Connects all 4 storylines)

I just picked up the first one for the Cube... it's another series I've meant to try for ages, but never got around to it. The only reason I did is b/c BH4 looks so damn good, I have to try it, and would like some background on the story. Is the first one that quick of a game?

Yeah the graphics are plain and the voice acting is horrid but the first one is
my favorite. The game had great atmosphere and I really felt like I was
uncovering a mystery where as the sequels I already know what the whole
back story is. Also I am a fan of the haunted mansion as a plot device with
all the old stuff and secret rooms and the like. Although very aged these
days the first Alone in the Dark is quite similar with a cool occult theme. RE1
pretty much ripped that entire game off just replacing evil spirits with the
T-virus.
RE2 would be second favorite, that game is really the high point of the series. Improving on pretty much everything. Code Veronica was quite
good, I was surprised at how much I got into that game.

REmake. Though seeing what I've played of RE4 so far, I can't see how this won't be the best in the series when I get my hands on the complete final code.

I'm not a fan of the series, but I did spend a pretty good amount of time playing Code Veronica on the Dreamcast. RE3 is decent on that system too.

Y'know. I think I have to go with the original one on the Playstation. Got some fond memories of staying up until dawn with some friends, scared out of our frickin' minds!!!
The one I really got into BIGTIME was Resident Evil 2 for Playstation. TOFU!!!

I'm going with the Gamecube remake of the original. Turn off the lights, turn on the surround sound, and prepare to shit yourself. All right, I admit I didn't defecate myself while playing, but I actually enjoyed a lot of the camera angles where you could see some weird shadows moving around but you couldn't see what was actually lurking around the corner until you got there. A lot of the sounds were quite creepy as well - was that a creaking floorboard or just your imagination? The huge improvement in graphics and sound over the original PSX version has done wonders for the scare factor, which is what this game is all about. There were a few areas where it was tough for me to continue, just because I knew something nasty was waiting for me up ahead.
I haven't spent much time with RE 2, and I've never played 3 or Code Veronica X, but they just don't appeal to me like the mansion of the original. RE 4 does look quite promising, although I'll probably rent it first or wait till it drops in price.

I'll join the RE2 bandwagon. I thought the idea of the different scenarios within the same game was cool. I loved how it came together to show the consequences of the other characters actions. The helicopter scene for example. Great game.
Shitty controls!
For lighting effects you can't beat the GameCube games. Those old gaslights are amazing. However.....just as the first Silent Hill was creepy because of the graphic limitations of the PSX, the Playstation version of the first Res Evil is really good. Everything seems dimmer and more gloomy because of it.
*glances at shelves* It suddenly dawned on me that I never did get around to grabbing #2 on the N64. EEEEP!!! *plans to search the game stores today*

My favorite was part 2. The opening sequence ROCKED (still does) and the fact that you can play scenario B and see things from a different angle was a neat idea. Was Mr.X a sort of glimpse of the experiments that would lead up to Nemesis?? I haven't played them since they came out, but who exactly was Nemesis, and why did he always grunt out "STARS"?
