Okay, this is like the fifth site I've posted this link at. I'm feeling very zealous. :)

Sega Direct is having a questionairre about their Sega Ages 2500 series. translation here (http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/forum/viewtopic.php?t=476). The link to the questionairre is at the top of the translation. Fill it out and let your voice be heard.

It so hurts me that Revenge of Death Adder is not on that list. :(

Mind if I put up a news blurb about this on my site and link to that thread?

Which of the following Sega classics would you like to see butchered?

a.) More
b.) Less
c.) (fill in the blank)

Oh well, I'll fill it out and hope they don't destroy it LOL

OK, it would help if you copied the text from the website and put it next to the game choices...I know I got mine right but continuing to scroll and count was annoying.

Also, it'd help to say that the Red button is the one you want to press...I guessed since it was the one with a down arrow on it, but still it'd be possible to think the red meant "start over" or something.

Didn't even think of that, Ed. Thanks.
I'll try to do some updates.

And yes, Melf -- anyone can cross-post this anywhere, just include a link as I assume people will want to add Japanese names of arcade games they want to see that aren't on the list.

Yeah, I just posted the link at the Castlevania Dungeon Forums. With strong hints about what to choose (Shinobi! Though I didn't clue everybody else on the others. For my own choices, I actually only chose three...House of the Dead among them :D)

GaijinPunch

Hehe... yeah, Shinobi would be nice, as would a port (not remake) of Alien Syndrome, Sonic the Fighters, and Alex Kidd. I'd really love to see a Planet Harriers port more than anything else by Sega now.

I've tried out Alien Syndrome a bit...eh, nothing special as I see it.

Planet Harriers? Oh yeah!

Done! Thanks.

Original or Sega Ages? I grew up on the original, so it's got a special spot in my heart.

Original. I've seen the same concept done elsewhere, much better, so I guess I've been spoiled.

Example?

Anything but?

Crimson Land, even though that's perhaps a fraction of a game and is much newer.

Smash TV, but it plods along.

Top down levels in Super C/Operation C.

Commando and Mercs.

Gun Smoke, '88 Capcom. Doesn't do 360 degrees, but this one is at least as decent..!

Plus a handful of obscure Japanese coin-ops whose names elude me at the moment.

I'd argue that Alien Syndrome has a very different feel to most of those - there's more exploration and more 'measured' feel to it, and less frantic blasting

Fine, but that's not for me. I'll take them as frantic as they come :D

It'd be nice if they released the rest of the scheduled Sega Ages titles before asking about releasing more....but I guess it makes sense in a way if they release further titles to get a heads up on what might be popular. The 3 titles I've been wanting most...PS2, 4, and Alex Kidd in Miracle World have yet to see a release date...

They aren't arcade titles... but I wrote in Shining Force 2 for question 16 in english. *shrugs*

Game's written in english on the Japanese box anyway.

They might not understand...Phantasy Star is written on the Japanese box as well, but as you see they've got the text from the spine in the list of choices.

Good choice though.

I think most of Ed's titles post-date Alien Syndrome. The arcade came out in 85 or 86 I think. Could be wrong. I did quite like it. The others are good games, but I always though Syndrome had a nice feel.

My personal top 3 games I'd like to see (that haven't been announced) are Planet Harriers, Crack Down, and Star Wars Trilogy. I assume the latter is the only one with any real chance, although one could argue that Sega would look silly releasing it now, and not on the DC.

Oh, I forgot SAR. Really like that one. That came out in '89; Gun.Smoke in '85. Anyhow, most indeed do post-date Alien Syndrome; I'm not gonna argue that AS looks great for the time period. It's really not my game, for various reasons, though. Which is odd considering that I usually embrace any 2D freescrolling shooter that shows up.

I like Sega Ninja and that sort of game. Ninja Emakai ('86) has been a favorite of mine for a few years now (maybe think of it as a top-down Chuka Taisen).

As for Alien Syndrome...I like it less than Victory Road, which seems harsh (even to me), but that's the way it is folks :P

Sega Ages Phantasy Star IS going to see a US release -- as Phantasy Star Universe. Not until June 1st, though. :(

Star Wars trilogy won't ever come out for the same reason the Lost World won't: licensing issues. :(

The arcade game, Star Wars Triliogy? I LOVE that game. I'd kill to see a home version. It was considered for the DC but never got anywhere.

Well, I would have assumed so, too...but it's right there in the list! Star Wars is an option!

I wish they would do Sonic CD with the option to pick JAP or USA audio. I have been less then impressed with most of the 2500 titles. I have almost all of them. I couldnt believe Outurn, I finished it on my first race! Space Harrier was ok. Golden Axe, lame. Planet Harriers I would LOVE to see.

I agree... I don't see how they can be so blind as to not finally put Sonic CD on a collection pack. It's claimed as "the best Sonic ever" and they've not reprinted it ever... not once.

Star Wars: Model 1 emulation is coming along, so hopefully one day we can play it at home, in some form.

Ed:
Victory Road... I actually quite liked that game back in the day. I've been tempted to pick up the PCB of that and the first Ikari, but they're pretty pricey, and the freakin panel (w/ that special control) costs a freakin' mint. Another game I"d like to see ported, but it wouldn't quite work unless you did some wacky button emulation.
