Not directly video game related but I got a copy of Shrapnel: Fragments of the Inner Sphere, a very rare Battletech artbook/short story collection for 5$, it normally sells for 50$+ (at the time), the seller forgot to put "Battletech" in the listing.

Complete Stadium Events for $220 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @_@

Damn, that has to be the best deal in the history of ebay. I don't know why I didn't see that auction, because I was definatley looking for Stadium Events back then (and still am by the way). I've never really got any amazing deals on ebay before, I got a black Menace Beach cart with instructions for $20, and a copy of Bubble Bobble 2 for $45. I've also got a bunch of somewhat rare games for pretty cheap, the other day I bought a copy of Casino Kid 2 for $1.29 (it was a little over 6 bucks after shipping), and a copy of Pac-Mania for $4. For the most part I guess I usually pay normal ebay prices for my items.

I don't know about as a buyer, but as a seller I once said several Marvel Masterworks...these were hardbound books reprinting Marvel comics. I'd bought them at their original prices of $30 to $35 and by the time I sold them, they'd gone out of print and several of them went for as much as $100 to $110. Not sure how much I got out of those but it was a bundle...

As a buyer i once got a english version of magical chase with minty manual for $135 shipped ems from europe. There was no box though, but that is still a hell of a deal, considering at the time they we're selling for $250 loose.

About 3 years ago i got a complete PAL alien soldier for $15. Then i traded it like a idiot and a few weeks later before i got a chance to buy it everyone went all crazy about treasure. You all know the rest of that story.

As a seller, about 3 years ago i sold a complete video store copy of keio flying squadron for sega cd for $200. then i bought a mint one for $60 from a friend. The thing that made this story great though is that like 8 years ago i bought this game for like $15 at a video store. then i sold it to my best friend for the same price about a year later. then about 4 years after that my frien sold me all his sega games for $20. so i ended up paying like less than a dollar for the game. So the way i look at it someone paid me $120 to take a mint keio off there hands. BEST DEAL EVER!!

Complete Stadium Events for $220 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @_@

Damn, that has to be the best deal in the history of ebay. I don't know why I didn't see that auction, because I was definatley looking for Stadium Events back then (and still am by the way). .

The auction was a zero feedback seller, with no pic. The seller described it as NTSC in emails. Total gamble that paid off - which is why you, and pretty much everybody passed on it, justifiably so.

I know all this, because I got D_N_G's old SE box. :D

Yeah, you gotta love those no pic auctions, if you're brave enough to take a chance on one. I did, and I got a sealed UN Squadron for SNES for only $10! But if it had a pic and it wouldn't stop screaming about how rare it is in that condition, and it went on and on about the vertical seam, like those sealed SNES auctions usually do, it would've cost me alot more than that to get it, because everybody would've been fighting me for it. So when I see auctions like that, I just email the seller and start asking them questions before I bid. That way I have a record of whatever they told me, if I happen to need to file a claim against them, and I can still feel comfortable enough to place a bid. So far it's worked very well for me, but I still tend to avoid them myself.

picked up a stadium events manual and complete family fun fitness pad (NTSC) for 210 bucks (or so)... wouldn't really call it the best find ever, but definately worthwhile... seeing how common that manual is ;)

now if i could only find the box and the game :(

Other good find.... 80+ SNES boxes for $15 BIN with 3 media mail shipping. GOOD boxes too

that's about it, I usually make my good finds in the wild. Someday i will snag a good deal on epay.

Hey qixmaster, just think of how good that deal would have been if that idiot didn't crack the buy it now with a 10 dollar bid or whatever. Then you could have bought it now for only $99 @_@ . You still got yourself a good deal though , considering thats only the 2nd Stadium Events manual I've ever seen. All I want is the cart, but I have a feeling I'm gonna have to battle you for the next one that pops up on ebay. LOL

My best transaction was as a seller, cause I havent had much luck buying.

But I bought Lunar Legend for GBA (29.99) close to release day, beat it, and decided to sell it. Well, for some reason there was a shortage of this game for about a week or so and I wound up selling it for 75.00.

It was insane!

My best buy was this lot of Super Famicom games:

Goemon 2 (CIB)
Goemon 3 (loose)
Goemon 4 (CIB)
Ebisumaru Puzzle game (CIB)
Pop'n Twinbee (loose)
Parodius Da! (loose)
a multitap shaped like Bomberman's head LOL

for a total of $92 shipped. It may seem like a lot, but seeing as this guy was in florida, and the CIB games usually go for $30 by themselves with shipping from japan, I think I got a great deal. Not to mention that every one of those games kick ass. :D

A couple years ago I bought a 2600 with about 30 games for, IIRC, about $40 shipped. It had a game (Xenophobe) that I was missing, plus mostly commons listed. When I opened the box, I found Q*Berts Qubes instead of the promised Q*bert. I then traded this for Power Lords, thus completing my Odyssey2 collection (the first system I completed). I decided not to report the seller for misrepresenting the auction :D

As a seller:

5 years ago, I got 6-switch Atari 2600 system, complete and in new condition from a garage sale for $7. Don't think it was a Heavy Sixer, but it was definitely one for the earlier models. It looked like someone got this as a christmas gift years ago, played it once or twice, and packed it up and never touched it again. The paddle controllers were even still sealed. Sold for $685 on Ebay.

As a buyer:

Never really had any outrageously incredible deals, but probably my best was 2 new & sealed Cheetahmen 2 carts in a dutch auction for $25 each.

LOL Well I guess I'll have to wait until we find another one for you then. I'm pretty sure that I've seen another sealed one on ebay before, maybe even from the same seller, so he might have gotten a whole box of them. Have you tried contacting him and asking him if he has anymore sealed ones yet? Iron Draggon, I would definatley keep that thing sealed up. The best deals that I have so far this year are:

a boxed Glib for the 2600 $5
Ultravision Karate and Asian label Karate - Free. This auction turned into a huge mess because of interference from someone else but I ended up selling both and spitting the proceeds and I didn't have to pay for either one.

Last year I scored a boxed Vectrex 3d goggles and all 3 Vectrex 3d games for $125.
Bounty Bob for the 8 bit Atari - $4

These are some of the better deals that I have found but I have spent hours on eBay over the years.

I say you open that game and play it. There is no point in holding onto a game to look at it. The reason people buy games is to play them. Open the damn thing already and let the good times roll.

Or i guess you could look at for the next 10 years and never play it, and possibly sell it on ebay a few years down the road for a small profit.

Personally i would rather have a nice mint complete game in my collection for years to come that i know i will enjoy, rather than a game i will never play and just look at and never know if it is a fun game.

" Hey Pete? Look at this game. It's 7 on the rarity list, it's called Hurricanes, I just sit here and stare at it for the past 10 years."

"Is it fun?"

"I don't know"

" I just sit around and look at it while i beat my pud gawking at the vertical line of sealing"

I also love to open up sealed games, but I would never do it to a rarity like the one you bought.

Well last year I opened a sealed Mr Nutz (R6) and I'm glad that I did. It's a very fun game, and I still have a nice fresh minty copy of it. I only buy sealed games so all my games will be in the best condition possible. I don't really care if it's rare or not, it's still gonna be rare if I open it, just not as valuable.

OPEN THE GAME!!

I like your attitude! This is normally the way that I look at things. By opening up sealed games, I'm just making all the remaining sealed copies worth even more money. And I've never collected games just for the sake of collecting them or to resell them later for a profit. I do buy alot of games like this now that I probably wouldn't buy otherwise if it weren't for the fact that they're rare, but I still buy them to play them, not just so I can have them in a box.

But I already know the game sucks. I trust the reviews here, and the word is that it blows as many chunks as you'd expect this sort of game to blow. The guide says that it's only of interest because it's incredibly hard to find, and I believe it. So it's not like it was when I was debating whether or not I should open Mr Nutz. I already knew that game was a very good game, so it made my decision alot easier. Although I do kinda wonder if maybe I would enjoy it alot more than the review in the guide would have me believe. The graphics look OK, from what the box shows of them, and in fact they look pretty good. So the gameplay is the big question, and it looks like it might be a pretty fun game too. Kinda like Soccer Kid or Marko's Magic Football, both of which I own, and both of which are pretty fun games. So I dunno.

But I hate to torment people with it. If I had known that Drummy was a member here before I bid on it, I probably would've just let him have it. But then that's kind of a silly thing to say, because there's some games that I would fight every member here tooth and nail for, and I'm sure that they would fight me tooth and nail for them too. But this isn't one of those. It's just some obscure pseudo-sports platformer based on a crummy license. So I don't even understand why it's so rare. Most games like that were made by the truckloads. But whatever, there's no debating it's rarity, that's for sure.

HMM... What's all this plastic wrap that's coming off of it here? OMG! @_@ j/k

in the case of sealed games from the 16 and 8 bit generations. it is the most insane thing you can do to open it when you can legally own the rom and play it on your pc while at the same time keeping the shrinkwrap intact

If the game sucks then sell it. Try the rom first and decide. I am just the kind of collector that will open a game if it's worth it, and i will sell a rare game I buy if it is horrible.

some games i have bought sealed and opened.

neutopia 2
valis 3
super castlevania 4
symphony of the night
ghosts n goblins
military madness
solomons key
final fantasy 1
shiining wisdom

some games i have bought and sold quickly because they suck.

pirates gold
shining wisdom
military madness
darius alpha

I am the kind of persom who relies more on quality and not quantity. So what i use to own darius alpha. It sucked so i sold it for a ton of money. Now i have a bunch of neo geo MVS stuff and a nice supergun setup. which i will enjoy more.

I suggest you relist that thing on ebay and buy a game worth owning instead of just looking at some ghey vertical line.
