I am not seeing these in stores anymore. EBGAMES still has some in stock (new for 79.99), but I have a feeling that these will become collectable? What do you guys think?

they *will* become collectible, but they *shouldn't*.
Nintendo circulated some poor hardware inside those.
Be careful of burnt Pixels.

really I was not aware of that. Is that comon for all SP models or just the NINTENDO retro one?

Well they are LE so that would indicate that at somepoint Nintendo will stop making them (I think they already have) and they would become rarer and thus collectable. I haven't heard anything about burning pixles though. I have one and it looks fine.

Back in August, Nintendo announced the NES Limited Edition model will be discontinued. So Whatever you see out on stores is probably the last batch

Ha! I had to go through 4 of these to get a good one without bad Pixels (or 'dust' as someone else here said).

Did the original GBA's have this problem, as my first one was okay on that..

It might have been a bad batch of SP's in my case, as the first three were from the same exact store (same shipment), and the 4th which was okay was from a different one.

i own a original gba back when the only colors available were purple and clear purple. i never had a problem with mine, and my sister has 1 like that as well, and she hasn't had any problems either

I always see at least 3 or 4 of these sitting on the shelves every time I go into Target, so I don't think they are that rare. I don't regret buying mine however. Wouldn't want any other SP model. I'll probably pack it away as soon as the DS is released though.

Don't forget the white GBAs!

The older-style GBAs did not have the same "dust" problem because there was not enough space between the screen and the protective cover--not a case with the GBASPs. My own SP has 1 speck of visible "dust" under the screen.

ive had a silver gba sp since launch and i play it to hell and back, no burnt pixels. i bought one fo those nes versions just for the collection purpose. i never opened it, just put it away into a drawer.

you should do the same.

I had the same problem with my NES SP. I had to return it and get a new one. The new one works great.

Weird! I've never even heard of the pixel problem until now. I bought my Flame Red GBA SP near launch date, and I've had no problems with it ever.

NINJA EDIT: Like dsullo asked, is this a problem with all SP's, or just the NES retro one?

i have two SPs (platinum and NES) and one gba (platinum) and never had a problem with the screens....and i didnt have a problem finding any of them

also, i cant see the GBA NES becoming too rare...even though they were limited...a lot were made

The NES will probably become rare, as will the onyx and flame, limited edition, now discontinued, colours.

I haven't had a problem with my NES SP... then again, I just played it for about five minutes to make sure it worked then stored it away. I use my Cobalt blue SP anyway ^_^

Hopefully best buy will still have these after christmas so I can go pick one up using a couple best buy cards. I wonder if these will be worth like $150 when its brand new in box in about 6 years. :/
