I've recently started into both of these, and DAMN. Anyway, I know that most a youse shmupos prefer the vert scrollers, but I just thought it was time for a festive holiday poll to give a shout out to fancy-lookin' side scrollers on a last-gen system!

I'm partial to Einhander, because it moves fast and has a killer soundtrack. R-Type Delta is more of a hardcore, old school game with great visuals and unforgiving gameplay. Anyway, if you like these two, try Thunderforce V: Perfect System.

Man, I have both these games and could not bare to part with either...but If I had to choose which one is better, I'd have to choose Einhander @_@ ....but don't let the smooth taste fool you! R-Type Delta rulez too! :D

After about 31 months of contemplation, I'm going to go with R-Type Delta. But maybe that's just because I like pain. :P

I haven't gotten around to playing Einhander yet, so I will go with R-Type Delta.

I played a lot of Einhander when it came out but never took to RTD. What I remember about RTD is the second (?) level where the big ship is chasing you...I just don't like being chased in a game. I don't like shooters that are too tough immediately...I like to get into it before it gets tough.
IMO Einhander is the best side-scrolling shooter on the 'station, although TF5 and G-Darius are good too.
