Q: Was there a retail box for the PC Resident Evil releases?

I recently got ahold of RE2 Platinum and 3 from Hoots-Loot...I thought I was just getting two copies of RE2 (one to keep sealed, one to open...) but instead got Nemesis instead of a second copy of RE2P. Hey, I'm not complaining! These games don't seem like OEM copies, as they come in a jewel case and don't have any markings that suggest they would be OEM (furthermore I don't know of Voodoo or ATI Rage cards had these games as pack-ins).

I've been checking eBay for a little while...there's plenty of copies of these games, but all are simply sealed jewel cases. What's the scoop?

Those must be re-releases, because the original three were released in nice cardboard boxes. I have the original RE1 for PC somewhere (Picked it up for $5 at Eb Games a few years back)

I love the PC Verison of RE1 for one simple reason...original uncensored intro from the Japanese verison! (Chris lights his cigg, a dude covered in maggots, and bloody dogs spraying blood)

Now that I've checked back I *DO* see Resident Evil in the big box - but none jewel case only such as these. I still don't see any RE 2 and 3 in the big box.

So RE 1 got a box release, and 2 and 3 got no boxes?

That RE3 you showed me is a re-release (Mostly sold at Best Buy and such)

As for the RE2...could have been taken out of the box

the RE2 box has a nice lil fold out showing you the details on what's included

RE3 nothing special, just basic like RE1

For what it's worth Ed, I know for a fact RE got a PC big box release. Worked at Babbage's over the Xmas rush years ago and we had it - in the bargain bin. (No one wanted it, RE2 was out, and everyone was all about the consoles.)

So I can confirm it's existance. But I can't offer much more than that.
