This is...well, this is interesting in that Kenny Brooks, the guy who found the Earthbound prototype (so he says...the name does sound familiar), has given a response to my question about a certain auction of his (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8143455302).
The people who have seen this so far (in eBay Madness) think it's a fake, and so do I. Would anybody else like to venture a guess?
My apologies if essentially reposting this seems abusive, but I'd like to see some more of the serious collectors here comment on this. Kenny pulled out the "if it's not on a list that doesn't mean it's not legit" excuse and I want to see if that holds up. Thanks folks!

It's not a "fake," but a well put together pirate.
I found a copy at my local Gamestop. I haven't seen the auction though, but by your description, I think it has to be the game that I got.

Here's why it's fake:
Corners of label are too rounded.
Label is matte instead of glossy. Only Majesco titles have matte labels but it's safe to say they didn't release this game.
The four-button SNES logo is too bright.
The red bar underneath the 'Super Nintendo' text is too tall.
The artwork square should be a rectangle and it's too small, the artwork is also squished.
So it's a pirate.. which means it's legit, in the sense that it's physically tangible, but definitely not an official release. Probably came out of Mexico.

Aha, just saw the link.
Yup. I own that pirate game. And mine is in better shape by far.
The label on mine is a glossy finish. I think it's just the angle of the camera.

Compare your cart with another official release? I'm pretty sure it's matte, I worked for a printing press company for 2 years. Angle of the camera has nothing to do with the reflection intensity of the flash.

I've compared them side to side in the past, and they didn't seem to be much different at all, but I could be mistaken.
The biggest way to tell it is a pirate is if there was a picture of the back of the cart on eBay. The back of the cartridge doesn't have a normal sticker or one that even resembles another SNES release. Compared side to side with other SNES releases, almost everything that you pointed out above is true.

Here are the reasons why I think it is a definate pirate:
it is Dragonball Z 2. Remember when the final fantasy games came out in the states, they started at 1. When was the last time a series was introduced to a system with number other than 1 (there are some examples, but you know what I mean)
also, why in the hell would they use the same exact art from the front of the box of the jap game instead of throwing something else on. seems kinda dumb to me.
also, that little bat on the snes logo is all big

Also, the game lacks the little downward-facing lavender triangle that all games have on the left side of the label.

i also have a dbz 2 game that is housed in a snes cartridge case, but my game is the japanese version, and the sticker on the front looks to be the original japanese release label that was cut to fit the front of the cartridge.it even came in the original jap box.i bought it off ebay from a seller in canada, and paid less then 10 dollars for it.
