Yes, I'm talking specifically about weird wonders like:
Taiko Drum Master
Katamari Damacy
Incredible Crisis

You know, those weird, wonderful games that are so avant-garde and off the wall that you'd swear they'd stay in Japan, but don't.

What is your impression of these games and why do you think we're starting to see more of them come to the U.S. shores?

Well I've never played any of the games that you listed yet, but I think it's for the same reason that Americana is so big with alot of players in Japan. We embrace the weirdest of their stuff just because it's so weird, just as they embrace the most outrageous of our stuff just because it's so outrageous. It's kind of a form of rebellion in a way. In fact, you kinda answered your own question. That kinda stuff makes it over here because it's so Japanese that we just have to have it. You would think that it would be too Japanese for us, but that's exactly why we want it so much. BTW, I saw the Taiko Drum controller the last time that I was in Gamestop, and I really wanted to find out what game and what system it was for, so you've answered half of my question for me now, so what system is it made for?

The Japanese market is in a slight slump compared to the Western one at the moment. Maybe Japanese companies are willing to take greater "risks" and publish some titles they would have only released at home into the West to generate more revenue and see if we take to it.

Taiko Drum master is for the PS2. I believe the same team that worked on Donkey Konga worked on this game too. It even won a design award.

I hear there are like 5-6 iterations of it in Japan. It's apparently pretty popular.

I prefer those weird bizarre games myself. It suits my state of mind of being pretty weird and bizarre, and of course - random. That and people exploding in a clearly way over the top rain of blood and ichor are the only things that really make me laugh these days

I always get a chuckle in "Power Stone 2" when you wack someone with a tennis racket and they go bouncing all over the place. LOL

I'd also say the first boss in "Silholette Mirage" when he calls upon the power of a battleship to attack you (complete with opening "wormhole" and picture of a battleship)

Funny funny shit.
