Whazzup?!?! Guess who's back?!?! *thinks* You people probably don't remember me...... Anywho, it's been over a year. But now, I'm here to stay!!! Anyway, I was wondering....what's the most amazing.....ful....ness.....ful thing that you've ever done in a video game? Mine might be....hmmmm......how I beat FF IX Disc 1 in 7:39:20......or FF VII Disc 1 in 13:?:?. I dunno........I've done stuff amazing compared to my friends. There is this girl who I hate (annoying.) But, it took her 102 hours to beat disc 1 of FF VII. Then, she whines to me about how boys are better at video games and how it's not fair. Ya, so, anyway (too much usage of that word), post away.... *dramatic music*

most amazing thing ive ever done was beat cyber-lip with only one continue, anyone whos played this game knows how cheap it can be, and without diagonal fire its almost impossible to not die a thousand times.

MOD EDIT: I edited the subject thread so it's a bit clearer as to what this conversation's about. "Amazingfulness" as a thread title is pretty vague...
Anyway, here's my big accomplishment. Did it on Halloween this year, in fact:

Discovering the Final Fight nude code. EDIT: ;) ;) ;)
Steel Battalion Mission 13, Armageddon, 100% destruction, using a Falchion.
Stealing ne146's h0t ch1x.
Doom II, defeating every level in Ultra-Violence starting with onlly the pistol. Well, except level 30... :( (I know, some people do even more astonishful things, but I felt pretty h4rdc0r3.)

Done without saving after every hole...

Keep in mind, this might not be impressive at all. I don't know of all that many "Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour" afficionados.

For me along the same lines. When XBL started up, my roommate and I were ranked under the top 50 for a while in both Mech Assault and Unreal Tournament, until they restarted the leader board due to a few discovered glitches.

I'm new here, and wanted to find out some of people's best/favourite gaming accomplishments. And so I'm resurrecting this old thread rather than starting a brand new one.
My best ones:
Finished Contra on 3 lives.
Finished all four Dragon Warriors for the NES from the start in one calendar year.
Rolled the counter over to 0 on Asteroids (Atari)
Rolled the counter over to 0 on Midnight Magic (Atari)
Finished Super Metroid at 100% in 1:42
Finished Super Mario 3 without losing a life, without warping, and fighting all hammer bros, levels, and mini-castles - I'd say that would be my best since it seems like the hardest to do.

Nice, I haven't gotten close to that time, but I've beaten all goldeneye levels on all difficulties, and gotten all the cheats twice on different carts.

Auctually fighting and defeating a Shyster ranger in SMRPG.
Playing and finishing Super Mario Land without ever dying once over and over and over and over and over and over again.
playing Japanese games without the need of translations.
PLAYED PSO ON GCN COLLECTED ALL ITEMS THREW TRADE ONLY TO GET BSOD BY A JAPANESE PLAYER CALLING ME A AR USER. I did it like almost twice. Then I even went for all the rank weapons ( which I got all ) I think I had all the items in the game that was super duper rare. Only a few off the side. Thats why I do not play this game anymore WASTE OF TIME...........
I did everything you could do with a online network game and een more....................:devilish:
.....
 I even did that thing in South Park raising levels by the tens even when my eye become weakened by the fire 3 blasts.:texaschain:
In Kirby Dreamland I got 999999 points and everytime Kirby makes an attack you get that 1up sound really funny.

I never understood how this is a special victory. I'm no Halo nut and I've only played it but a few dozen times at other peoples houses. This may not seem like much, but beating Crazy Taxi 2's final challenge is a major accomplishment for me. You have to drop off 30 customers to any destination on the Small Apple course. You get to choose the route. What makes this extremely hard is the fact that they only give you 5-6 minutes to do this, and, if you don't plan your route ahead of time, you'll end up failing the mission. Add to the fact that the course is curvy, twisty, and packed with traffic (not to mention the arrow sometimes messes up), and this makes it one of the hardest challenges in Crazy Taxi. Passing this lets you have the ability to use the Crazy Taxi 1 drivers on any course, which is a great bonus for having to sit through this insanely hard challenge.
-Getting all of the characters on Super Smash Bros. Melee on the first day I got the game.
-Finally beating Sonic 2's final boss normally, without cheats. (I finally figured out his pattern and I easily beat it.)

Beat R-Type for the SMS only losing 2 guys, and using no continues.
Speaking of R-Type, I started playing R-Type III a couple weeks ago and it took me about 3 hours of solid play before I managed to beat the first level. I guess I'll call that my most amazing game accomplishment since I cna't think of anything better. It is pretty amazing, you have to admit.

I beat Time Soldiers for SMS without using the 2P continue cheat. That's probably been done by many.
Also making a hole in one on a par 5 in Valora Valley Golf for Saturn. If anyone else here has done that I'd be surprised.
I also made a hole in one in real life but on a par 3. Which is better? I really can't say...

Beat FFVII in under 24 hours
Harking back to the first guy's post, I beat disc 1 of FFIX in 7 hours first time through. :-/ Kinda wish I hadn't, now...
Beat Sonic 3 in under an hour without losing a life- not groundbreaking but I'm kinda proud of it.
-First 3 levels of Sonic Spinball without losing a life (which is a LOT harder than it sounds).
Managed to get into the top 100 worldwide at MSR.
130 emblems on Sonic Adventure DC
150 stars on Mario 64 DS
That's about it really.

Does actually beating Tower of Druaga count? Sure, I didn't do it in one credit, but that game is so frustratingly difficult I nearly lost the will to live. Also a lesser achievement, but beating Splatterhouse 2 was a challenge, and I genuinely believed that I'd never see the end credits.
Aside from that, beating Metal Slug 1 on 1 continue, and then later 1 life, beating Earthworm Jim on one life, getting King of Insanity ranking on Insane Mode in Point Blank 2, and beating Donkey Kong Country without any bonus barrells in 49 minutes.

Maybe if you played it you would. Or maybe you wouldn't. We'll never know unless you play it.Since GTA is supposed to be a "sandbox" type of game, I do know what the appeal is; however, I prefer to play that style in a fantasy game such as Morrowind or Oblivion and not run around in a modern setting carjacking, mugging, etc.

Finally building a working digital 5200 controller.
I've actually hit 20,000 in Berzerk. And the difference in Mario Bros., Qix, Defender, and Ms. Pac-Man is really something.
By the way, I now have a photo of it and the 5200 paddle controller, so if anyone here can post it here, I'll send it over.

The two that come to my mind are:
Beating Battletoads losing only one life (at the last stage, I OWNED all of them until that cheap deat, grrrh)
Beating Contra with the initial 3 lives, without dying, and THEN, beating it 7 more times without stopping. For those who donīt know, the game gets harder and harder, they stop giving you lives after an amount of points (I think it was 4 mill), and the enemies take more hits to die. I died at the middle boss of the last stage in my 8th run, coming 400,000 points close to the world record. That was an amazing night, for sure.

Halo on a normal difficulty isn't hard, A game on Normal difficulty isn't meant to be hard (especially for an off line game). Hard has its moments (few and far between) and Legendary is more of a grind than anything...well except for Level 3 'The Truth and Reconciliation'. Right after you get onto the ship, that is by far the HARDEST part of the game. It took me a while to finally work my way through the 15 waves of bad guys that greet you there.
Now Halo 2 on Legendary? Good fucking luck. If you are not an UBER master at the game, or doing it on Co-Op (or in actuality doing both of the mentioned thing), its practically impossible. Fighting the Prophet of Truth solo on Legendary is an experience in Futility he's so hard.

My greatest video game conquests are limited to the NES. Nothing here that hasn't been done before by other people.
1. I've beat Super C with one life. That was hard. I've beat it three times with the "default" of 3 lives. My next best performance was beating the game and losing one man.
2. I beat Wizards and Warriors the first night I brought it home, after having just paid $40-50 for it.
3. I also beat Dragon Warrior with a ridiculously low experience level and without using the Game Genie. I can't remember what level it was but I didn't have all of the spells. I was missing at least one. I never even found Erdrick's Sword in that particular adventure. Anyone know what the record for that game is by the way, when it comes to finishing it with the lowest "level"?
4. This isn't mine but it was the coolest achievement I ever saw on the NES with my own eyes (and in person). Four or five years ago, my best friend beat the world champion in Ring King, complete with maxed out stats of 99, while using a new boxer who only had the 9 points that you begin the game with. He didn't knock him out. My friend beat the champion by moving around a lot and lasting until the end. He ended up winning by decision, all because he had hit the champion two times more than the champion hit him. No Game Genie or cheat codes were used. The best thing about it was that the guy was a lousy player who sucked at nearly every video game in existence except Ring King, which was his all-time favorite on the NES.

I beat Blaster Master...that was a feat.
My claim to fame is to be able to waltz through Strider on 1 quarter...1 man. I used to get CROWDS around me in the arcades doing this. If I didnt already have the high score on that machine, I would kill off my extra getting points in the Dino level, then take my last man to the finish. Good times.

Dunno if I've ever posted it here or not:
http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=22&p=41347
Nothing really stands out, but it's kinda neat going back and seeing what you scored on games. I think I'm most proud of Yoshi's Cookie -- the fact that I have yet to be dethroned on a semi-popular game is pretty cool. On all my Master System scores, I just barely squeaked past 2nd place. And I doubt that I could ever play that well on Thunder Spirits again.
All these were submitted before all the controversy surrounded TG, and I doubt I'll ever send in another tape again, but it's nice to get some recognition for all this.

most amazing things....almost all of them revolve around online games
Remained ranked in the top 20 of socom 1 for the ps2 from its release to about a year later when cheaters came around (of course my rank fell terribly once cheaters came)
Was ranked #3 in the socom 2 beta, and #30 in socom 2 retail (yeah socom 3 wasnt too great so nothing great to say aboutthat game..)
I still consider it a huge feat that I put in nearly 3,000 hours into final fantasy 11...

My best NES accomplishments...
1 - Hitting half a million in Millipede Game B
2 - Finally breaking the 6:00 mark speedrunning SMB
3 - Shooting an opponent in Wild Gunman in 0.00 seconds.....twice
4 - Not much to anyone else, but returning to a long lost round of StarTropics, and finally beating the last boss...15 years later. That shit right there is priceless...

Forgot a couple of mine: 100% on GTA 3, lvl 99 ww druid on diablo 2. All 3 diablo 1 characters at lvl 40 or above and beat diablo on hell difficulty.

I remember playing Metal Gear Solid 2 on Extreme mode. I got all the way to the section just before the last Boss fight where you're being choked and have to press on the square button to survive. Well I did, with one hit left and then it was on to the last boss with just one sliver of power left in my gauge. I did manage to beat him, after the single tensest boss fight I've ever had. I gave myself a cookie.

played through all of ff7 disc 2 in 30 second intervals.
My copy of the game was terably damaged, and the only way I could find to play it was to put the disc in the freezer for a few minutes till frost covered it, then run it over to the system, pop it in, and play for the couple of seconds it took till all the frost was gone. Once and a while I would get to areas that would run without frost, but the vast majority of the disc I wasnt so lucky with.

Anybody here who's familiar with arcade 1943 knows that there are 16 stages in the whole game. I got haflway through Stage 16 on 1 coin. Hve pics of the score, and a witness to the fact. Notwithstanding that the score resets when you continue (IIRC). That was a bitch to do, and even though the machine is in the basement, I still think it may even be a few more years before I attempt that one again. Probably a couple more, I'll have to reflect a bit longer.
Being completely unable to pass Stage 2 on arcade Gradius III comes to mind. Impressive in a negative way, eh? God that game is ridiculously hard!! (or maybe it's just me)

One time I died during the first level of the original Super Mario Bros. Now THAT is a real gaming accomplishment!! Unlike all these wussy high scores and beaten games everyone else is posting....

I've managed to finish Life Force (NES) in one life, Megaman 2 in one life, and I agree that finishing Blaster Master at all is pretty good. (Did it twice)
The best I've ever done at 1943 is 945,000. I want to break 1,000,000, but I now magically suck at the game and I can't even defeat the mission 4 boss! I don't know what's wrong with me...

I haven't done anything amazing yet. I've managed to place 1st in the Oval Circuit in Choro Q3 using the default car starting from 10th place. I'm also about to beat the original campaign in Front Mission First using only Lloyd. Once I'm done with that, I'm going to try to beat it using only Fredrick after Mission 3. I'm not using that hidden gun, BTW.

Meh... it's easy enough... if you start running, and don't jump in time, you can lose a life. If you're playing the game seriously, then this is quite the accomplishment.
I like the SMB trick where you can be small and have fireballs.

Ninja Gaiden (NES) - Beating the game without being hit. I've only done this once. I play it all the time and know it like the back of my hand, usually never die unless I fuck up VERY badly. Score was insane, something like 380,000+.
God of War II - beating Titan mode. God that was the most annoying cheap deaths ever. The game also gives you the middle finger when it comes to upgrading your weapons that it made me steaming mad. Oh a chest? 15 ORBS. Or you have about 4500 orbs at a certain point in the game? Too bad, you can't get anymore out of chests, enemies only.
Oh yeah, and !@#$ Zeus. He was a chump after so many practice rounds though. You must have full health and 80% magic when he shrinks down though.
EDIT:
Remembered another!
PS2 - GTA: SA 100%
That was a bitch and a HALF. I also had to suffer through the real supply lines mission. Not the bullshit xbox and pc versions where they gave you a shitload more fuel. My flightplan had to be so perfect I practically divebombed the god damn roof you start out on which I had been coasting to for a while with no fuel.

I had a near perfect game on the mini game of monkey target(one of the best mini games ever). I hit a 5000 pt game on a five round game with the "wheel of danger on".
