Now I have not been looking for this system in stores near me but online I can find these new PS2's for their street price of $149.
eBay shoppers sometimes amaze the hell outta me when it comes to paying up to or MORE than retail price.

Thats ridiculous. At my local ebgames they have a huge pile of those behind the counter. I guess that isn't the case everywhere, though. Maybe I should buy a few.

It is ridiculous. Even someone who'd live in a isolated area has better buying options for the PSTwo than Ebay... hmm, if they have the technological means to buy on ebay, they should be able to buy off a online vendor. And no need to go for the obscure, unproved vendor. Just get it off bestbuy.com or whichever online store you prefer...

Agreed. I haven't looked into it, but there is no way anyone is going to convince me that these things aren't available at at least one or two online places. Like I said, my local ebgames has a ton of them. I think that some people are just gullible enough to fall prey to the doublespeak that these sellers use. They read him/her saying that there is a shortage and no more units are going to be shipped to stores before the holidays, and some people just take their word for it without actually checking.

I work at CompUSA. We haven't had the PS2 in stock for about a month and a half, and we only got one case of the PSTwo (4 per case). I don't know when we are getting more in, but the GM of my store said that they are in short supply. He also said CompUSA as a chain is going to lose about 170,000 over the Christmas season because we cannot get them.
However CompUSA is known more for computers, and not too well known for video games. So we probably arn't too high on the list to be getting more when supply meets demand. But still a big retailer like Wal*Mart or Best Buy should be better stocked than having to get them on eBay, especially at that price!

Sony stopped shipping PS2s (old models) to retailers and distributors so that everyone would sell the old models. then theyd ship out the slim models... my guess is that a lot of smaller cities have yet to receive the new models and PS2s are sold out in their town, making it a mad dash to get one before christmas.

I was in my local best Buy on Thursday and they had a stack of them out. I should have bought them to sell them on EBay
Maybe the PS2s shippments are caught up the the west coast dock backlog. They can't unload ships fast enought to keep up.

My local EB is completely out of all Xbox and PS2 consoles. All they said that they had were a few Gamecubes.
