That thing is really ugly. There is just so much going on, in the little area they had to work with. Blah. x_x
As for its rarity that Is the first time I have ever seen it. I looked threw a site full of Gameboy variations and that is still the first time I have ever seen. Anyone have details? Was it a contest or something? I guess checking ebay.co.uk would be your best bet to find one.

Said they got it from the Old Trafford store itself so could be quite rare, although it didn't fetch a great deal.

They arent particuarly THAT rare...
Definitly not something to shell out wads of cash for... wel maybe if it was brand new and boxed...
I remember seeing them being sold at Manchester Airport in the duty free shop some years ago.. so it wasnt a Man U store at old trafford exclusive thing...
I have a yellow mono myself.. and a clear.. and many greys..

For you English guys it may not be that rare, but for us Americans, I think it's a LITTLE bit harder to get our hands on one.

Gaw, $35 or whatever for that doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. Though I'm afraid to say I'm not really a Manchester United fan...out of ignorance, not malice, I promise [I am an American, after all! :) ]
I'd save the money for something else though.

I used to have a pink one of these old style GameBoy's, and it was actually called a GameGirl... (It was my sister's) - I don't know what happened to it though...
It came out a long time before Nintendo released the multi-coloured ones and was aimed specifically at girls to introduce them into playing GameBoy's
